July 2024 – Rempe burst onto the scene at the end of the 2023-2024 NHL season, appearing in 17 regular season games with the Rangers, along with 11 playoff games, and even opened the scoring for the Blueshirts in their opening-round matchup against the Washington Capitals. Although he doesn’t hit the scoresheet much, Rempe is a fan favourite who uses his massive frame to torment his opponents, delivering thunderous checks and providing energy to his club. Having impressed his teammates and coaching staff with a great attitude and work ethic, Rempe looks forward to attempting to lock down his fourth-line role in New York permanently going into the 2024-25 season. June 2023 – Rempe appeared in 53 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack last season, his first pro season, after spending parts of three seasons with the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds. The huge righty, listed at 6-8 and 240 pounds, posted six goals and four assists for the Wolf Pack in 2023-24, to go along with 87 penalty minutes. Clearly, Rempe is unafraid to use his large frame to mix it up with his opponents. The Centerman is signed through the 2024-25 season, and will remain in Hartford for the upcoming season, barring something unforeseen. Brendan Ferry
July 2022 – Rempe’s three year ELC with New York, signed in November of 2021, begins at the start of the 2022-2023 season. The towering forward has spent the bulk of the last three seasons with Seattle of the WHL. In 2021-2022, Rempe posted 17 goals and six assists for 23 points in 56 games played and followed it up with eight goals and four assists in 24 postseason games. Rempe is currently attending Rangers prospect camp and appears to be ticketed for AHL Hartford this Fall. Brendan Ferry
October 2020 – The New York Rangers selected Matthew Rempe in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-8 centerman has some raw fundamental talent that he will need to continue to build around in the coming years. His forethought is the best compliment to his size, so it will be the teams hope that he can continue to develop his skating to the point of becoming a serviceable bottom-six forward, who can consistently wear down oppositions.
