Patrick Harper

June 2021 – Harper saw his first taste of pro hockey in the 2020-21 season skating in Florida in the ECHL. He took no time to adjust to the pace of play and showed his scoring touch totaling nine points in five games. With Milwaukee and Chicago sharing a lineup in the AHL, space was limited for Harper to play a full season at the next level, but he eventually earned a spot. His transition wasn’t as smooth as one would hope seeing Harper produce only two points in 15 games. The continuation of Harper’s development will begin in the AHL where he will learn to play more on the defensive side of the puck and look parlee his slick offensive abilities with a newfound sense for checking and defensive awareness. April 2020 – Harper is fresh off his ELC signing with the Predators late in March.  At the end of this season, Harper tied his rookie NCAA performance of 37 points, but in 6 fewer games.  He has added more of a physical and all-around skill set to his game, which has helped him fit the mold of a more honest and responsible Milwaukee Admirals group in the AHL ranks.  Harper is a good bet to make the AHL in the fall of 2020. February 2020 – Harper has had the bounce back season he needed for Boston University.  He is on pace for his best season yet with 35 points in 28 games. Harper is second on the Terriers behind another Predators prospect in David Farrance.  While BU is having a mediocre, Harper has been steady and reliable all season long and has really rounded out his defensive game sharing the team lead with plus 13.  It will be interesting to see if Harper’s season ends in BU or with a few games in Nashville fresh off an ELC. November 2019 – Harper is making the most of his senior year at Boston U.  Through five games he has seen time as a top-10 scorer and currently sits at nine points on the year.  Generally thought of as a centre, Harper is playing more time on the wing, giving him more flexibility on the offence.  He’ll be counted on the lead the way for the Terriers all season. Nicholas Kawka

July 2019 – After his 3rd year, Harper is coming off his worst statistical season in the NCAA.  With many of his team’s leading scorers moving on, Harper’s time to shine will be in 2020 as an alternate captain, his final season eligible for an ELC.  Harper is known for his scoring potential and he will need to be impactful if he plans to stick with the Predators organization. – Nicholas Kawka

October 2018 – Harper has started his junior year at Boston University with two assists in two games. He’s spending time on the ice with fellow Nashville prospect David Farrance, and the two seem to have chemistry. Harper is looking more and more like an NHL prospect and could be a steal for Nashville in the fifth round. Matt Somma

March 2018 – Patrick Harper is following up a strong freshman season with Boston University with an even stronger sophomore season. The undersize centre has eight goals and 21 points in just 20 games with BU, coupled with six penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. He had a strong performance at the World Juniors, netting four points in seven games for the American squad.

Harper’s sophomore season has been derailed by an injury that has kept him out of the lineup since January. Prior to the injury, he was using his speed to create zone entries and generate offense. When healthy, Harper is a threat to score and set up his teammates. Tyler Halsey

May 2017 —Harper has been a point-per-game player for majority of his junior years. As a smaller player, he has learned to lean on his speed and skill. He can get in to the zone using his speed or his soft hands. He can score and drive the play. There is still some work to be done on his defensive zone coverage, but you can see that he has the desire to excel in that area of the game as well.

Harper had a terrific freshman season for Boston University, with 37 points in 38 games. The success hasn’t been there when he has played with Team USA on the international stage to this point, as he has posted two points in 15 games, in three different tournaments.     Niko Salminen
