July 2022 – Shockingly, the Predators did not extend a qualifying offer to Farrance. After failing to land a home in the NHL, he has officially signed an AHL contract with the Carolina Hurricanes affiliates, Chicago Wolves. Dave Hall

March 2022 – The best defensive prospect in the Predators system has had a solid start to his pro career in Milwaukee. In 45 games this season, he has one goal and 13 points, which is tied for 20th among rookie defencemen in the AHL this season. He may not yet show explosiveness in his offensive game, but his puck-moving ability is still evident at both even-strength and on the power play. Farrance still needs to work on his defensive game, specifically in transition. He has a shot at being on the Predators roster in 2022-23, but in my eyes, he would be better suited to step up into a full-time role in 2023-24. Curtis Rines

April 2021 – Farrance has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Predators. He closed out the season with 16 points in 11 games, which tied for the lead in BU scoring. Farrance could very well see NHL time before the end of the 2020-21 season and is a must-add in fantasy keeper leagues. Nicholas Kawka

March 2021 – Farrance continues to prove that his offensive emergence last season was no flash in the pan. Leading Boston University in scoring with 16 points in nine games, as he is the motor driving the offence. His decision to stick around for a final NCAA campaign looks to be the right one as he is maximizing opportunities at BU with substantial ice-time and touches in all situations. Farrance is a staple prospect piece in the Nashville system and should be inking his ELC in the coming months. He could be a player to watch making an appearance for the Predators as the season comes to a close. Nicholas Kawka

April 2020 – Farrance has elected to stay for one more season with the Terriers and will not yet sign his ELC with the Predators.  Farrance has risen to another level this season with a big bounce back offensively.  His ability to transition the puck at high speeds has caught the eyes of many and Farrance has impressed with his development.  This is deja vu for Nashville as a similar situation happened with Jimmy Vesey back in 2016.  At the end of the 2021 season, Nashville will have a short window to sign Farrance before he is about to test free agency. February 2020 – Farrance has established himself as premier offensive defenceman this season in Boston University and in all of college hockey.  He is top five in points among all NCAA players with 37 points in 29 games. While Farrance is known for strong passing and puck transporting, he has taken his attack to another level with his involvement in the offensive zone and finishing touch. With 13 goals on the year, Farrance has shown off his dual attack. He was a big part in BU reaching the 2020 Beanpot tournament final. Nicholas Kawka

November 2019 – After a down year in production last season, Farrance is off to a hot start at Boston U.  He is currently scoring at a point-per-game pace and leading the NCAA in shots by a defender.  Farrance is among the top producers on his squad and will be leaned on heavily to quarterback to the power-play this season. – Nicholas Kawka

July 2019 – Farrance had a solid second campaign at BU.  Along with his well-rounded defensive play and physical style, his point production increased.  As Farrance continues to mature, we could see him take on a much larger role at BU next season with fellow Predators Dante Fabbro graduating to the big club. – Nicholas Kawka

October 2018 – David Farrance has had a hot start to his sophomore campaign with the Boston University Terriers with four assists, three of which were primary assists, in an opening weekend series against Minnesota State. Matt Somma

September 2018 – David Farrance will be staying at Boston University for his sophmore season after playing his freshman season in the 2017-2018 campaign. The former NTDP standout had nine points in 31 games for the Terriers while finishing with a +3 rating. Farrance has shown that he can be an offensive threat on the back end, especially when it comes to making passes. Matt Somma

July 2017 – The 17-year-old defender climbed draft boards before the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, eventually getting selected by the Nashville Predators in the third round. Farrance is out of the USNTDP and is committed to Boston University. During the past two seasons in the USNTDP he scored fifteen goals and totalled 45 points in 116 games. He also represented US at the U18’s this year, as an important part of the gold medal team. He has been one the best scoring defenders on his team for the past few years. While reading reports of Farrance, I thought that how didn’t he get picked earlier in the draft? He is an excellent skater with exceptional hands that can deliver almost any pass to a teammate or fire a booming, accurate shot. He can skate his way out of a forecheck and push the puck up the ice while creating chances off the rush. He doesn’t turn the puck over much and isn’t bad defensively despite being 5’11”. Admittedly he is a bit soft on defence, relying a lot on his positioning and stick play. Like most in his age grou, he needs to gain some muscle. Niko Salminen
