Observations:

February 2014 – After his contract expired at the end of the 2012-13 season, Hamill briefly found a home with Vancouver’s AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets. But that was short-lived as he was placed on waivers by them in December 2013. Hamill then signed with Barys Astana of the KHL and that is where he currently resides. He had just eight points in 22 games for Utica and so far has three points in 10 games in the KHL. Austin Wallace

February 2013 – Hamill did little in Hershey to force Washington to take a look at him even while they were struggling offensively. He was recently traded to the Florida organization where opportunities are still readily available for him. In five games with San Antonio, Hamill has contributed four points. Hamill is an active shooter as he has only been held shot less only four times so far this season. Jason Banks

July 2012 – In late May, Hamill was shipped out by the Bruins to Washington in exchange for Chris Bourque (Ray’s son). This increases Hamill’s odds of seeing NHL time, as the Caps tend to use a bunch of prospects and give players opportunities. Hamill being the setup guy he is, may produce if thrust onto a line with guys like Wolski, Ovechkin, Johansson or other finishing prospects Washington has coming along (it is unlikely he gets an opportunity with Ovie). Because Washington has 12 forwards on one way contracts and Marcus Johansson, Hamill should be heading to Hershey where he will compete with others to be a consistent call up. Down the road with Ribeiro, Brower, Crabb, Hendricks and Wolski’s contracts up at the end of the year, a strong season could finally make Hamill a regular for 2013-14. Jason Banks

March 2012 – Hamill is at the crossroads with the Bruins organization as he is in his last year of his ELC. This being his fourth pro season, Hamill will need to produce in order to stay and get his opportunity in the NHL. He has good vision and hockey IQ, but still needs to be stronger with the puck, quicker, and display the ability to score at the pro level. Russ Bitely

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Hamill has good playmaking skills, but still lacks the speed and finish needed at the highest level.
