Observations:

January 2014- For the second consecutive season, Toffoli has found himself on the Los Angeles Kings active roster. This year, he played just ten games with Manchester before making the jump to the NHL. At a plus-14 rating and currently 7th on the Kings in scoring, Toffoli is also on pace for 30 points  and is rapidly becoming the forward they projected him to be. He may still have some work to do on his skating, particularly his explosiveness on break-away or odd many rush opportunities but other aspects of his game have transferred nicely to big league. His ability to score and stand up to more physical players has earned him a longer look with the Kings. The next few months will tell if his minor-league hockey days are over as some scouts believe. Pete Richmire

May 2013- Tyler Toffoli has definitely made an impressive leap this season on his way to being a solid pro. He spent the better half of his season with the Manchester Monarchs, where he was nearly a point a game guy, putting up 51 points in just 58 games. Toffoli was called up to the Kings on March 16th where he would get 13 minutes and 20 seconds of time on the ice to prove he was NHL worthy. Although he didn’t get any points in the 5-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks, he recorded one shot on net and a couple other shots that went wide. Only two days days after his debut Toffoli got his first NHL goal and his first NHL assist en route to a 4-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. He would go on to play eight more regular season games with the Kings finishing off the regular season with two goals and three assists. That’s not bad for a 21-year-old rookie in only 10 NHL games. On May 8, Toffoli was once again called up to the Kings to play in Game 5 of the Western Conference quarter-finals against the St. Louis Blues. He would go on to play Game 6 of that series and Game 1 of the Western Conference semi-finals before getting his first NHL Playoff point (assist) in Game 2 of the semi-final series against the Sharks. In Game 3 Tyler got his first NHL Playoff goal backhanding the puck past Antti Niemi to tie the game at 1 a piece. He played three more games in that series without registering a point. It’s likely he’ll start at least a few games in the upcoming series, but either way i’m sure the name Toffoli will be seen on the back of an NHL jersey for many years to come if he continues to play the way he has been. October 2012 – Tyler Toffoli has taken well to the AHL in his rookie season, so far. He’s put up five points in his first six games. What’s impressive is that he’s doing this on special teams. Two of his goals were powerplay goals and the other he scored shorthanded. A pretty impressive start for any rookie in the AHL. Tim Graveline

March 2012 – Toffoli is a small player, but as the former director of NHL central scouting said, Toffoli makes up for it in skill and effort. Toffoli has long been praised by Ottawa 67s head coach for his hockey sense and ability to play effectively as both a shooter and playmaker. Toffoli has led his team in scoring for the past two seasons, including leading the league in points last season. Toffoli may very well win the OHL scoring race for the second year in a row if he can maintain his current points per game average of 1.58. Thomas Wall

Fantasy Outlook: A

Toffoli is a top six forward and if he can’t crack the Kings top six next year, he would be best served playing big minutes with the King’s AHL team in Manchester for a season.
