Observations:

 

August 2013 – The 25-year-old Ty Wishart put the rumors, as well as his New York Islanders career, to rest when it was confirmed he has signed with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of the German Ice Hockey League. Terms of the contract are unknown other than that Wishart is expected to join his new club by the end of August. Brad Wilson

 

August 2013 – Rumors began circulating in late August that Wishart may be close to signing with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).  After signing a one-year, two-way deal last summer, Wishart spent the season as the assistant captain for the Sound Tigers. Unable to make his way into a regular NHL job, Wishart may be looking to Germany for a fresh start. Brad Wilson

July 2012 – Time is running out for Ty Wishart to make the impact that was expected when he was drafted in the first round by the Sharks in 2006.  There should always be concern when a young prospect is shipped to three different organizations in five years. Wishart is a big defenseman who has some offensive upside.  He needs to use his large frame and become more physical.  It should be noted that the Islanders selected seven defensemen in the 2012 draft – a clear sign there is a lack of confidence in the current defense corps. Wishart has a chance to make the Islanders as a #6 or 7 defenseman with a strong camp.
