Observations:

September 2016 – The former Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick has yet to find his way over the NHL yet. The gritty winger has toiled away in the KHL and other European leagues since leaving the Jet’s farm team after the 2012-13 hockey season. It’s doubtful we’ll see him back in North American hockey any time soon. – David Dickenson

March 2014 – Kubalik has played this season in the KHL. Although his contract is just for one year, his odds of returning to the NHL and making the Jets are slim. – Dobber

June 2013 – Columbus' 5th round selection in 2008 has signed to play with Lev Praha of the KHL for the the 2013-14 season after spending three seasons bouncing between Springfield and St. John's of the American Hockey League, as well as a few cups of coffee with the Blue Jackets club. In 12 games over the past three years with Columbus, Kubalik posted one goal and four points. The recent KHL signee commited for one year but keep tabs on him as his future in North America is a bit murky. Brendan Ross

March 2013 – After showing flashes of scoring potential, Kubalik has settled in as a third-line energy player capable of 15 goals at the NHL level. But don't expect more than that. – Dobber

March 2012 – Kubalik is a native of the Czech Republic but did import to the QMJHL ranks for the 2009-10 season. He definitely showed his scoring touch in the major juniors and has surprised the brass of the Blue Jackets with his grit and ability to score those “dirty” goals. He completed a successful rookie campaign in the AHL last season notching 53 points in 76 games for Springfield. The downfall in Kubalik’s game is his skating and physical strength. – Russ Bitely

Fantasy Outlook: D-

While he is a gritty third-line winger, he’s unlikely ever to play in the NHL full time.
