Fantasy Summary

Clifton’s stretch run stint with the Barracuda will give the first indication of what the Sharks have, but he projects at best to a bottom-six role. Zach DeVine

December 2018 – Clifton has returned to game action after missing much of the season with an upper body injury. Clifton has missed significant time to injury over the past two seasons and he’s still trying to find his way as a bottom six center for the Barracuda, which doesn’t bode well for the likelihood of NHL success at the age of 26. Chris Legg

June 2018 – Clifton wrapped up his first full season as a pro with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, where he posted two goals and seven assists for nine points in 36 games. The 26-year-old two-way center played primarily in a bottom six role. Despite displaying some scoring ability in the NCAA, expectations should be tempered. At his age, Clifton is a long shot to make the NHL and likely won’t be fantasy relevant if he does. Chris Legg

March 2017 – The San Jose Sharks went back to the NCAA ranks and signed undrafted free-agent Tim Clifton from Quinnipiac University. Clifton has a reputation as a two-way center that has worked his way all the way through his four years in college to round out his game and the hard work has paid off. Clifton has played in the NCAA tournament three of his four years (this year being the exception) and was the team’s leading scorer during the 2015-16 campaign that made it to the national championship game where the Bobcats fell to the University of North Dakota 5-1, with Clifton scoring the lone goal for Quinnipiac. The Sharks signed Clifton to a two-year deal. He will join the San Jose Barracuda for the stretch run and add depth for the Barracuda. Zachary DeVine
