Observations:

July 2016 – Shane Prince signed a two year, one-way deal on July 1, 2016. Prince was an efficient offensive weapon in 2015-16, registering 1.53 points and 7.55 shots on goal per 60 minutes of ice time – good for sixth and fifth on the team, respectively. Unfortunately for Prince (and his fantasy owners), the Islanders also signed Andrew Ladd and Jason Chimera to multi-year deals on July 1. As things stand now, Prince is fourth on the depth chart at left wing, which will limit his fantasy value for the foreseeable future. However, if there are ever injuries on New York’s left side, Prince is very capable of making the most of an opportunity on a scoring line. Brent Craswell

 

November 2015 – In a November 25th game against the Colorado, Prince had the biggest game of his young NHL career scoring two goals in a span of three minutes and later adding an assist for good measure to cap a three point night, earning first star in the process. All this in just under nine minutes of ice time. With six points in 13 games, Prince is making a strong case to stick around the nation's capital for the foreseeable future. Brad Phillips

April 2015 – With 8 games remaining in the Binghamton Senators 2014-2015 season, Shane Prince has surpassed teammate Chris Wideman for the team lead in scoring.  Prince has increased his point totals in each of his three seasons in Binghamton, taking the next step towards a potential NHL career playing first line minutes with the AHL club.  With 55 points in this season, the former Ottawa 67’s standout is in the top 10 in AHL scoring, and was named to the 2015 Eastern Conference AHL All-Star Team. Although a late addition to the team, Prince scored a hat trick and added an assist, and likely would have been named All-Star Game MVP had his team come out victorious. Ottawa rewarded Prince with a injury call up in February where he played two games and tallied his first NHL point on a goal scored by Erik Condra.  He will battle to make the Sens out of camp in 2015-16 or be the first call up from Binghamton.  Kevin LeBlanc

 

September 2014 – A forgotten prospect at times, Shane Prince has turned some heads so far this year in the Rookie Tournament and his pre-season games. Although Prince won’t start the year in Ottawa, he’s certainly put his name on the list of call-up possibilities if the injury bug bites. The American-born winger continues to grow in terms of point totals each year in the AHL and has the speed to play on any of Ottawa’s lines, most notably alongside Mika Zibanejad. Prince could fall victim to the abundance of strong forward prospects in Binghamton, especially the first rounders. However, he’s most likely going to get a chance to strut his stuff at some point this season. Nathan Martin

 

May 2014 – Prince and the Binghamton Senators had a strong regular season, winning the East division of the AHL. Unfortunately their Calder Cup aspirations were cut short, getting knocked off in the first round by the Wilkes-Barrie Penguins.  Prince had a solid regular season statistically, putting up 48 points in 69 games (21 goals and 27 assists).  Prince has yet to see any NHL action, but his AHL numbers have increased in the last three seasons and he has played top six minutes.  Prince is the type of player that the organization most likely does not want to rush into the NHL; he’s a small, scoring winger.  It’s most likely that Prince gets another full season or two in Binghamton, hopefully with a few brief call ups to gauge his potential. Nathan Kanter

 

May 2013 – In his first pro season with Binghamton, Prince had a respectful start scoring 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points in 65 games. This former OHL scoring star must learn to play at both ends of the ice and until he does on a consistent basis he is still a few years away from a spot on the NHL roster. Alain Dube

 

July 2012 – He has officially signed his three year entry-level contract and will join the Sens’ at camp and likely be assigned to a strong Binghamton team and should contribute right away. Prince finished with 90 regular season points for the 67’s along with 16 in the playoffs. Jason Banks

 

February 2012 – Shane Prince has really turned it up offensively the past two seasons after a slow first couple years in the OHL. He has benefitted from playing on one of the best lines in the OHL alongside Tyler Toffoli with the Ottawa 67’s. Prince is a fast skater who is known as a strong playmaker with soft hands. This season Prince put together a very impressive point streak of 20 games (and counting) as of the end of February. Listed generously at 5-11 and 185lbs, Prince could be much more effective if he added more bulk to his frame. Thomas Wall

 

 

Fantasy Outlook: B

Ottawa wasn't able to put any more time into developing Prince, they ended up moving him to the New York Islanders, who are pretty deep at the winger position also, Prince will have to progress quickly at the NHL level to hold down a top six roster spot.
