Observations:

February 2016 – With the influx of talent brought into the Leafs organization, Rupart’s role was rather limited and at one point eliminated from the AHL. Upon recall he once again provided some jump despite limited ice-time. He was packaged up and sent off to Binghamton in the Phanuef trade and will move forward in the Ottawa system that likes his type of play. His progression should look much better with a stronger chance of success in the nation’s capital. Jason Banks

May 2015 – Ryan had an extremely strong 2014-15 campaign for the Toronto Marlies, despite only joining the team at the end of November after an ECHL stint. His AHL club was floundering at the beginning of the season utilizing question marks as low line players and having only Connor Brown generating offence, but with his recall he reeled off 12 points in 20 games as a secondary player while also winning 12 games after being 5-13 in the previous 18 contests. I personally attribute the turn around to his energy brought in to help form a second productive unit. Rupart also showed his responsible side in the fact that he finished amongst the team leaders with a positive-22 rating. This was the first year of the Rupart brother’s careers that they did not skate together, but they were reunited in time for the playoffs, while not on the same lines, both led energetic lines and found the score sheets. Going forward, Ryan will be a key forward on the middle lines in the AHL as he works towards getting himself ready for an NHL opportunity in the coming years. Jason Banks

November 2013 – Rupert is an undersized and feisty competitor currently playing with his hometown OHL team alongside his twin brother Matt. In junior he has been a reliable contributor in all areas of the score sheet, but it is questionable how effective he will be in pro. He is a small powerhouse and could hold his own in the trenches but his production is likely to take a large hit while forming into an energy line player. The brothers will attempt to return to the Memorial Cup for a third and final time. Rupert is a slick puck handler who owns a quick release. His temper and passion sometimes gets the best of him often resulting in unwarranted penalties so he will need to keep that in check. Ryan Rupert was named to the OHL Roster for the 2013 Subway Super Series scheduled to take place in mid-November. Jason Banks

Fantasy Outlook: D+

Expect him to take a long road of development before an opportunity opens up. Rupert projects as an energy player or agitator at the NHL level. Best to wait until he has some professional seasons under his belt before adding him to your fantasy rosters.
