Observations:

July 2014 – After a decent 36 point season for Vaxjo in the Swedish Hockey League, the Leafs declined to tender him a qualifying offer, thus declining their rights on him making him a Free Agent. It is unlikely that another NHL team will make an offer to him and he will stay in Europe for the near future. He could resurface in his 30’s as an AHL franchise may wish to utilize him as a pure scorer. Jason Banks

September 2013 – Leafs reassigned Lasch back to Vaxjo of the Swedish Elite League last month. His North American career is rather un-notable since leaving the NCAA. Leafs maintain control of his rights until the end of the year, he could be brought back to play in the AHL at the end of the season again if the Marlies need the help, but this scenario is very unlikely. Jason Banks

April 2013 – After limited success in Europe, Anaheim threw him away to Toronto for utility center Dave Steckel. He has shown good puck movement on the Marlies in a handful of games, but to this point lacks much substance playing on the lower lines. Still not expecting Lasch to become a considerable fantasy prospect, but his contract runs through next season and will be an experienced player for the young to work with. Jason Banks

March, 2013 – The Leafs acquired the rights to Lasch (along with a seventh rounder) for checking center David Steckel. After watching the Leafs give Mike Kostka a chance, Lasch will get a fair shake if there is an opening in the fall. He’s signed to a two-way contract for next year. Dobber

March, 2013 – Obviously not happy with thriving in the ECHL yet getting little opportunity in the AHL, Lasch has moved onto the SEL and is probably done in terms of chasing the NHL dream. Dobber

January 2013 – Lasch was skating with Norfolk of the AHL and Fort Wayne of the ECHL under the watch of Anaheim. His year had been reasonable with five points in 19 AHL games and 15 points in 12 ECHL contest, but the Ducks have opted to assign him to Sweden. It is unlikely he will return to North America with notable status. Jason Banks

December, 2012 – Lasch is a hardworking winger with good hockey sense and quick feet. At the pro level, coaches have been reluctant to use him because of his defensive deficiencies and is lack of size. The lockout has, for the most part, kept him out of the AHL thanks to some players on Norfolk who should be with the Ducks. But in 2011-12 he led the ECHL in points with 62 in 59 games. Dobber

May 2011 – Ryan Lasch is a smallish but quick winger with great passing and hockey sense. He also has an exceptional working attitude and he always plays the situations to the end. Lasch was a finalist for Hobey Bakey Award in 2008. After graduating from St. Cloud State University, Lasch to move to play for Södertälje in Elitserien. His team was one of the worst in the league and they got relegated after the season and Lasch signed a one-year contract with Pelicans Lahti in SM-liiga. He won the SM-liiga scoring race in 2011/12 both in the regular season and in the playoffs and was voted in the SM-liiga All-Star Team. He was chosen to play for Team USA in the World Championship in 2012. He saw power play time in the tournament with Paul Stastny and Max Pacioretty and didn’t look out of place at all with the superstars.  He has been rumoured to be negotiating an NHL contract for 2012/13. Fantasy Outlook: D+

Height and ability to fit in an organization are issues he doesn’t seem able to over come.
