Observations

January 2019 – Anderson made the United States 2019 World Junior team with little hesitation as he was one of three returning players on the blue line and his experience and leadership qualities saw him be named the team captain. Anderson played alongside Dylan Samberg on the Americans top defense pair against the opposition’s highest level of talent while eating up big minutes throughout the tournament. Known for more of a defensively sound game, Anderson increased his offensive output this tournament tallying two goals and three assists for five points in seven games, opposed to his lone assist in seven games a year ago. Despite a strong showing from the young blue liner the Americans fell short of a gold medal losing to Team Finland in the final. Anderson and his silver medal will return to the University of Minnesota Duluth to play out the rest of the year. Julian Mongillo

November 2017 – Mikey Anderson is a reliable, two-way defenseman who doesn’t shy away from the physical side of the game. He is currently suiting up for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs after two seasons in the USHL with the Waterloo Blackhawks. He was named to the All-USHL second team, and represented the USA at the world junior showcase last season. Anderson plays a smart, simple game with a competitive edge. He is strong along the wall and has a good first pass out of the defensive zone. He is playing a significant role in his rookie campaign with the Bulldogs, receiving plenty of prime ice time.
