A late-blooming winger. He comes attached with an impressive resume overseas and some potentially untapped offensive upside.

August 2021 – The Blue Jackets have signed 28-year-old Danforth to a one-year “show me” deal. Although he enjoyed a respectable Collegiate career, the undersized winger went undrafted and was never awarded his true shot in North America. This resulted in a trip across the pond. He made the most of his move overseas, to say the least. In his debut season with Lukko (Liiga), he finished fifth in league scoring with 52 points over 59 games. Subsequently, he would follow this with a league-leading 60 points and patted his stat line with a solid plus-26 rating. This, in turn, awarded him a sniff in the KHL, where he wrapped up yet another successful tour, finishing sixth league-wide with 55 points. Quite the three-year run for an undrafted player. With a more potent offense serving as the immediate need, the Jackets take a shot with a low-risk/high-reward player. The question that begs is clear – can he complete the cinderella story and provide himself a solid NHL career? Dave Hall
