March 2019 – In his second AHL season, Gambardella is having an impressive season for the Condors. To date he has recorded a team leading 27 goals and the 3rd most points with 44 in 47 games. His 0.94 points per game is second on the team behind rookie Cooper Marody. Gambardella has established himself as one of the go to offensive forwards for Bakersfield and even played four games with the Edmonton Oilers this season (recording zero points). It’s important to note that although it is just his second pro season, the left winger is already 25 years old and in the final year of his contract with the Oilers. At this point it’s hard to say if he will ever be a consistent NHL player or just an injury call-up but his play should earn him an extension even if just to be a leader in the AHL. Jameson Ewasiuk

June 2018 – Gambardella’s first season in the AHL wasn’t outstanding by any means but he performed respectably and displayed flashes of potential. In 50 games played with the Bakersfield Condors the young forward produced 13 goals and 19 points. Gambardella is a versatile forward who often played on the left wing last season. He displayed the ability to score goals and is expected to be a consistent top six producer for the Condors this season. With top prospects Yamamoto, Benson and Marody expected to make the jump to the AHL this year, the Condors forward group will likely be more crowded with offensive skill than we’ve seen in the past which will give Gambardella more creative options to play with. If He produces well to start the season, he could see a call-up to Edmonton if/when injuries occur. Jameson Ewasiuk

March 2017- Joe Gambardell signed a two-year, entry level deal on March 28th. Gambardella has played well this season for UMass-Lowell putting up 18 goals and 34 assists in 41 games. Standing at 5-10 and weighing 201 pounds, Gambardella isn’t the biggest player but that doesn’t stop him from using his body effectively and going hard to the net. He has a solid stride and excellent vision. His hockey IQ is fairly good, always seems to be in the right place at the right time whether it’s a goal or making a defensive play. Gambardella isn’t a fancy player but he gets the job done. His wrist shot is hard and has a quick release. I could see him being an effective third line scoring winger that also gets minutes on the penalty kill.  Spencer Pomoty
