Observations

November 2019 – Jacob Bryson is a mainstay on the Rochester Americans’ blue line. The former captain of the Providence Friars (NCAA) has appeared in 18 games for the Americans. Bryson has mustered up seven assists so far. Bryson has been alternating between the top-pairing and the second-pairing this season. He is commonly paired with Zach Redmond and the duo have been extremely efficient. Bryson does not have much fantasy appeal and he projects to be a NHL third-pairing defenseman at best. Josh Tessler

March 2018 – The sophomore defender has put the wraps on a stellar 2017-18 regular season campaign by pacing all Providence Friars defenders in scoring with four goals and a team best 20 helpers for 24 points. His plus-minus rating of plus-19 was tops on the squad. He added an assist in the conference quarter-finals as the Friars swept the Maine Black Bears in the best-of-three series. Up next for the undersized blue liner in the Hockey East semis is the nation’s leading scoring Adam Gaudette and the rest of his Northeastern squad. Brad Phillips

June 2017 – The Buffalo Sabres drafted overager Jacob Bryson with their fourth round selection in the NHL Draft. Bryson is puck moving and fast skating defenseman but has a specialization in creating offense and playing on the powerplay. Lacks size and physicality but does use his strong skating ability to cut angles down. Does have great vision and provides fluid passes, but is not one to quarterback a powerplay. Max Marko
