Fantasy Summary

Owns terrific two-way ability and a burgeoning offensive game. May be more suited to the second line than a top line pivot. Has terrific hockey sense.

Observations

November 2018 – Lundestrom was sent down to the AHL. The amount of injuries the Ducks suffered at the start of the year helped him play 15 games but he earned every single one of them. His biggest attributes are things you can’t teach, which is IQ and patience. Carlyle would move him up and down the line up as he has the skills to play in the top six but he is so good in his own end, he can be relied upon as a shutdown checker. Being moved to San Diego will allow him develop his offensive game as he’ll get more minutes in all situations. He’ll be a future middle six center in the NHL. Lucas Main

October 2018 – Lundestrom has hit the 10 game mark this season, thus enacting his entry level deal. He only has one assist this season, but I’ll attribute that to being shuffled all throughout the lineup. One game he will play on the fourth line, another night he will be on the shutdown unit, then back on the fourth line. His best quality is his high IQ and he learns and gets better with every game. As he continues to gain experience, the points will come for him. Lucas Main

October 2018 – With injuries to four of the regulars, Lundestrom has made the Ducks. He had an incredible rookie camp/tournament and impressed during the preseason. He is only 18 years old, but his smarts and playmaking ability made him seem like a veteran of the show. I don’t think he’ll last past the nine game tryout because the Ducks won’t want to activate his contract, but he showed that he has a bright future in Anaheim. Lucas Main

September 2018 – Another Swede in the cupboard for Bob Murray and co, Lundestrom doesn’t wow with offensive potential, but rather his overall 200-foot game. He centered Sweden’s top line at this year’s World Juniors, but he can also play wing. He has a high IQ, can play in all situations, and isn’t afraid to battle for the puck. He is a pass first player, but when he decides to shoot, he does so with strength and accuracy. Given the depth that Anaheim has accumulated at forward through the last few drafts, they will let Isac develop properly; so don’t expect him in the show until at least 2020. Lucas Main

January 2018 – Skilled puck-distributor has shown very well as a draft-eligible player in the SHL and didn’t look out of place as a draft-minus one player in the top league either. His skill set may not jump off the page, but the nuances to his game are terrific. He’s the type of player you like the more you watch him. In a centre-lite draft, his stock will continue to rise. Soft hands and plus-rated hockey sense allows him to flourish in all situations. Saw his role expand in the WJC and thrived with more ice. Cam Robinson
