Pittsburgh Penguins

Fantasy Summary

Knott could either be a winger or center at the NHL level and has good size. Likely ends up as a third line forward that can play on the power-play and penalty-kill.

August 2018 – Knott experienced some growing pains in his first professional season. Never a big point producer, he found the scoresheet only nine times in 70 games with Rockford in the AHL. His route to the NHL lays in his defensive game and he will need to improve his skating in order to keep up with next level. Tony Carr

March 2018- Knott has picked up in Rockford where he left off in Windsor. He does a little bit of everything on the ice, mostly with a positive result. Knott could use some help in the skating department, as that is the biggest weakness in his game. Tony Carr

May 2017 – Graham Knott is a Memorial Cup champion thanks to the Windsor Spitfires 2017 win. You need to actually watch Knott to see what he brings to table, stats don’t quite tell the whole story. What does tell the story is seeing him on the ice in the final minutes of the game, taking (and winning) key faceoffs despite playing mostly on the left wing. He won 60% of his faceoffs in the Memorial Cup final game including winning the draw that later had him scoring a powerplay goal in the second period. Being traded to the Windsor Spitfires got him a chance to play in the Memorial Cup and Knott has not disappointed. He earned second star of the game honors with two goals and an assist against Seattle. Tony Carr

November 2016 – Knott was acquired by the Windsor Spitfires, along with Trent Frederic, a Bruins first rounder, in a deal that includes six draft picks changing hands. This is a significant move for Knott as Windsor will earn an automatic berth in the 2017 Memorial Cup as the host city. Tony Carr

April 2016 – Knott is currently playing in the OHL’s Eastern Conference final with the Mississauga Ice Dogs. After getting drafted last Spring, Knott’s numbers declined as a 19 year-old, scoring just 12 goals after putting up 25 in 2014-15. While the offensive output isnt everything, Knott hoped to become more of a complete player but instead showed some inconsistency this year. Let’s hope the Ice Dogs advance to the OHL Championship and Knott gets a chance to showcase himself on a big stage. Matt Donohue

June 2015 – Knott was drafted in the second round by the Blackhawks, a team notorious  (from a fantasy standpoint, that is) for bringing along prospects slowly. Doesn’t bode well for his fantasy value. Dobber

June 2015 – Knott is a big forward who uses his size to drive play. His skating is choppy and his acceleration is an area Knott must work at. Offensively, Knott put up 25 goals for the Niagara Ice Dogs this past season. He played well at both the U17 (seven points in five games) and the U18 (four points in five games). Knott slid to the wing after the arrival of Josh Ho-Sang but started and finished the year at center this year recording the best face-off percentage at the 2015 U18. Knott’s faceoff skills make for some refined skills in addition to his typical bullish game where he screens goaltenders and is able to knock back rebounds. Inconsistent in his effort during his games has led to some questions about his conditioning. Benjamin Gallant
