Observations

October 2019 – Brickley who re-upped with the Kings by signing a two-year deal with the Kings in the off-season was assigned to the AHL to begin the year. The 6-3 blueliner spent almost all of last year with the Reign and this year looks to serve a similar fate. If the Kings look to unload some of their defencemen on expiring contracts, should their season go south; Brickley should be among the organizations most NHL ready call-ups. Unfortunately Brickley has been hampered with an injury sustained in the first week of action, but should be back in the fold in a top four role for the Reign once he returns. Julian Mongillo

July 2018 – One of the most targeted talent out of the NCAA free agents, Brickley decided to sign with the Kings earlier in 2018. The Salt Lake City native who only started to show his NHL promises as a Sophomore back in the 2016-17 with Minnesota State University went undrafted in the NHL. Posting 31 points in 31 games in 2016-17 followed by 35 points in 40 games in 2017-18 in the NCAA, Brickley also played 1 game with the Kings where he scored his first NHL assist. Don’t be fooled by his offensive numbers, he can also play some highly reliable hockey in his own end which of course, will help him along the way to a potential second pairing role utilization. It should be very interesting to see how the 22-year-old blueliner will find his way up to regular playing time in the NHL, but we clearly need to keep an eye on this as it may happen much sooner than anticipated. Carl Sinclair
