Observations

May 2019 – In the three starts he has been allotted to date in the IIHF World Championship, Hart has looked stupendous in the limited action he has seen. While he was not named a Calder Finalist, he has nothing to be ashamed of with the rookie season he had. Gray skies are clearing up for Flyers fans that have endured more then their shares of goaltending woes. The silver lining is that his rather low amount of starts this past season make it probable he will be ranked lower than he should be on most fantasy hockey platforms this fall. A quality, good value, number two fantasy goalie is a very reasonable floor for Hart in the 2019-2020 NHL Season. Edric Joseph

April 2019 – Unsurprisingly, Carter Hart will be representing Canada at the IIHF World Championships. This was a hard-earned distinction as he took a Flyers team further than they should have gone. Things can only get better from here, and Hart will be in line for more starts next season with Neuvirth and Elliot both free agents this off-season. Keep Hart in mind on draft day. Edric Joseph

March 2019 – After refraining from rushing his return, Hart is ready to return to the lineup by his measure. Whether that will be sooner or later remains to be seen. He has been nothing short of a revelation for the Flyers as their goaltending situation has had little continuity in recent memory. He came off to a flying start however his regression is nothing to panic over. The best of Hart is yet to come, that being said, he should be stashed in all dynasty leagues whenever possible. July 2018 – Carter Hart is expected to report to Lehigh in the fall for duty and it is about time as it was becoming apparent that he had nothing more to learn at the WHL level. He is expected to be the Flyers’ goalie of the future, just not yet. That being said, his WHL MVP and CHL Goaltender of the Year commendations are nothing to sneeze at. Edric Joseph

April 2018 – Carter Hart has proven to be stellar all year and it shows with how he clinched WHL Western Conference Player of the Year honours, a rarity for goaltenders. He has been nothing short of stupendous and has a promising future ahead of him. It is fortunate happenstance that his WHL career is drawing to a close as he has little to gain from continuing to play at this level. The Flyers were lucky to have him available for selection in the draft when they did, however he has proven to be an even bigger steal in hindsight. Edric Joseph

December 2017 – The reputation of Carter Hart continues to build in size and momentum, much like a snowball making it’s way down a mountain side. There’s him and everyone else on the WHL circuit when it comes to goaltending as he continues to be a firewall for the Everett Silvertips as the season progresses. He will backstop Team Canada in the upcoming WJC. It’s hard to see him learn much more next year in the WHL when he is still eligible to play there for one more season before electing to turn pro. Edric Joseph

May 2017 – Hart makes his already-sterling reputation even more impressive with his second straight CHL Goaltender of the Year Award. He seems to be the goalie prospect the Flyers have been seeking for quite some time. He is still expected to report the WHL for his last year of eligibility. Considering how far ahead of the curve he is, he would do well to build his body to better handle the professional game when he gets the call up to the show. Edric Joseph

April 2017 – In light of the recent injury sustained by Anthony Stolarz, Carter Hart has been reassigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for their postseason run at the Calder Cup. After his stellar year for the Silvertips of the WHL, he is looking like a nice piece to rebuild around for Philadelphia going forward. Edric Joseph

January  2017 – Carter Hart’s showing in the finals at the World Juniors shouldn’t take much away from him, he was terrific throughout the tournament which shouldn’t come as a big surprise as he’s been a firewall for the Everett Silvertips. Edric Joseph

June 2016 – Hart was selected by the Philidelphia Flyers in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft. He was the first goaltender selected.

March 2016 –Carter Hart is an exceptionally agile goaltender with an elite level glove hand who is capable of shutting down the opposition on any given night. Blessed with quick feet and the ability to go post-to-post in an instant, Carter is an outstanding athlete with elite hand-eye coordination. He is calm and cool under pressure, and has the competitiveness of a starter who wants to play every night. Though he doesn’t have the prototypical size that most teams often look for in goalies these days, Hart makes up for his slight stature by utilizing excellent positioning and the ability to recover his feet quickly. He could stand to challenge defenders a little more but Hart’s rebound control is high-end, and he is adept at anticipating the play. His stickhandling could use some refinement but that’s splitting hairs. – Aynsley Scott
