July 2017 – The passed three years Thompson has bounced around from the NHL Devils to the AHL Devils and the Florida Panthers and the Springfield Thunderbirds. Thompson has signed a one-year contract with the Vegas Golden Knights. Former Panther executives Gerrard Gallant as head coach and Mike Kelley as assistant coach of the Golden Knights likely helped Thompson get a contract. Thompson is headed for the AHL Chicago Wolves next season and will get a call up if the Knights need a fourth line banger. He is not going to be fantasy relevant at this time. Paul Zwambag

February 2014 – Thompson played for four years at the University of New Hampshire (2007-2011). He is now the highest scoring native UNH player in the last thirty years. After UNH, he signed a two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was then assigned to the AHL (Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins). In his first shortened AHL season, Thompson appeared in six games and accumulated three points. The next season, he appeared in 67 games registering 25 points. The 2012-2013 season was very similar, accumulating 29 points in 58 games. In 2013, Thompson’s game took a dip. He was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in February of 2014 for Spencer Machacek. In his six games with the Springfield Falcons, Thompson has three points in six games. The Blue Jackets are hoping he can thrive in a new environment and recapture his UNH scoring touch. Thompson is definitely a physical presence on the ice, but also has decent hands, as evidenced by his standout career at UNH. He’s most effective in front of the net for garbage goals. Fantasy Outlook: D+

Thompson is an experienced prospect, giving him a more immediate edge in the depth chart. But he's a long shot.
