Observations:

May 2015 – Klefbom finished the 2014-2015 season as the Oilers leader in average ice time over the last month. He also finished with two goals and 20 points in 60 games and only put up four penalty minutes. His fantasy contribution in peripheral categories is weak but he could be one of the Oilers top dogs next season. Add to the fact he is playing for Sweden at the World Championships and that he will turn 23-years-old this summer, anyone would be hard pressed to continue to call him a prospect. If he comes out strong for next season's training camp then there is little doubt that he will be graduated for good. Tyler Thomson

December 2014 – Klefbom has been recalled to the Oilers for a second time this season and he may be up to stay. After a sub-par training camp and a stint with Oklahoma City on the top defensive pairing, the resilient two-way defender is now getting an increase in ice time to over 20 minutes per game.  With the Oilers continuing to struggle, look for Klefbom to begin to contribute in fantasy hockey. Tyler Thomson

September 2013 – Arguably Edmonton's most promising defensive prospect (with Darnell Nurse), Oscar Klefbom played in a shortened SHL season in 2012-13 due to a concussion early on and later a shoulder injury that would limit him to eleven games for Farjestad, posting three assists. Klefbom remains one of the NHL's most intriguing defenseman as the Swedish defenseman is blessed with outstanding mobility and hockey sense. His two way upside is very high and he is penciled in on the Oilers' future top pairing. With a number of current Oilers inked to contracts, Klefbom is expected to play with the Oklahoma Barons for the 2013-14 season. Brendan Ross

December 2012 – Klefbom  will miss the 2013 World Junior Championships for Team Sweden after injuring his shoulder in Elitserien action. Klefbom was the favourite to wear the captaincy for Sweden and was looking to defend the gold medal. Brendan Ross

July 2012 – Has recently signed his three year entry level contract but as expected, will stay in Sweden. Being 17 and 18 years old in Sweden you don’t usually get a large role or opportunity in Sweden, but you do get the experience of playing with men. This season Klefbom will be expected to take a large step forward in offence as Farjestad has lost two of their top three scoring back-liners for this season, and have replaced them with hopefuls to challenge Klefbom. He will not get anything handed to him in Sweden or North America. Personally I’d avoid jumping on Klefbom until he shows life in offensive categories but he has upside, excellent potential teammates in Edmonton, and could be a steal as a late claim in your league. Jason Banks

April, 2011 – Klefbom is a big and strong defenseman with good positioning and fluid skating. He has never been a big producer, but holds a potential to become a Zdeno Chara-like player. He has very heavy shot and could be used as a powerplay quarterback. He spent most of his season in Elitserien with Färjestad's men's squad and scored two points in 33 games. He won gold in the U20 world championships too,  scoring two points in six games and was chosen to the All-Star Team of the tournament. Klefbom will play at least one more season in Elitserien before moving to the NHL. Miika Arponen

Fantasy Outlook: B+

Needs to improve his offensive skills but has a potential to be a scoring D-man.
