Nick Holden, D
Hometown: St. albert, Alb.
Drafted: Undrafted – Signed as free agent
April 2014 – Holden has become a very serviceable depth option for the Colorado power play and at times has had some fantasy relevance. He has emerged, but is still on that fine line between ‘could go out and get 35 points next season’ and ‘may not make the team’. But his ice time has been pretty steady and as long as the Avalanche don’t sign a handful of defensemen in the offseason, he should be okay. – Dobber
March 2013 – As expected, Holden continues to serve time in the AHL, but has earned a small two game audition for Columbus for limited minutes. He has posted 26 points in 55 AHL games for Springfield so far, yet it is his plus-15 rating that has proved itself most impressive. He still holds no value in fantasy and that is not expected to change. Jason Banks
July 2012 – Columbus recently resigned Holden to a one year contract. Unlikely to earn an NHL roster spot in camp, Holden will provide a veteran presence at the AHL level and be an emergency call-up. His career seems like it will be as a career minor leaguer. Jason Banks
March 2012 – Holden is the classic player who was bypassed by the NHL Entry Draft a few times due to his late development. Played a couple of season in the WHL and now is currently in his fourth pro year in the Blue Jackets organization. There is no question he possesses the NHL body and attitude with some offensive swagger too. Thus far, his NHL time has only been a cup of coffee (5 games) and time is running out for Holden to impress and make the big leagues. – Russ Bitely
Fantasy Outlook: C-
Holden is a steady D-man that can play both ends for the ice who likes to play the body.
Nick Holden involved in an AHL fight with the Springfield Falcons on 5/19/2011.
