Observations:

July 2015 – Sundher was not given a qualifying offer by the Buffalo Sabres and therefore has become an UFA. Kevin is currently waiting to hear from a team who would like AHL depth, but will most likely end up in the ECHL. If you had Sundher in your minor league system you can replace him with someone who may have a chance to crack an NHL roster in the future. Paul Zwambag

 

May 2014 – The 2013-14 season saw Kevin Sundher’s statistics climb from the previous year from 13 to 20 but that ascend happened in 22 more games played. So if you take a deeper look at the numbers you would see this year he actually regressed from 0.38 ppg to 0.33. Sundher’s game is only one dimensional and that dimension is known to be offence and with him not even being able to make a difference on a night-to-night basis it makes him a long shot to make the Sabre’s lineup or anyone’s for that matter. Steer clear until he can turn his game up a notch. Travis Watson

 

July 2013 – Kevin is known for his offensive prowess as evident in Junior from strong offensive numbers but he wasn’t able to carry it over with him in his first year of professional hockey with the Rochester Americans. Sundher was able to score four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 38 games but that isn’t enough to get you excited about his immediate future with the club especially after finishing with a minus-four rating. April 2012 – Sundher entered the WHL Trade Deadline as one of the most sought after veterans available. He was eventually dealt to the Brandon Wheat Kings to play alongside Mark Stone and Michael Ferland. Unfortunately his strong play did not carry over to his new environment. He only had 11 points in 18 games for the Wheaties; he was also a minus-12. Sundher is clearly a talented player, but will need to add strength and brush off his inconsistency issues to find success at the next level. Zenon Herasymiuk

 

December 2011 – It’s not hyperbole to state that Kevin Sundher may be doing more with less at the major junior level than 99% of prospects his age. The Surrey, BC native has simply been the Victoria Royals offense so far in the 2011-12 season; in on 43% of his club’s goals, that total skyrockets to 65% when one looks just at powerplay production. A blazing skater with a bevy of offensive tricks, Sundher has ironically used his unprecedented ice-time and responsibility to develop into a more complete player than the one who was passed over in the 2010 NHL Draft. Sundher’s effort hasn’t gone unnoticed; signed to an ELC just before Christmas, the 6’0, 192 pivot will be in Rochester at the earliest opportunity. Matthew Bugg
