December 2012 – Joensuu was having a strong season with Ässät scoring 11 goals and 24 points in 20 games before hurting his arm mid-November. He will return to the rink after holidays. Miika Arponen{source}

October 2012 – Joensuu was by far the best lockout player in SM-liiga in September. He ended the month with six goals and two assists in just five games. Joensuu will have a good shot at the second-line winger job of the Islanders when the NHL season starts. Miika Arponen

 

July 2012 – Joensuu put on a show for Islanders management at the World Championships, scoring two goals thrusting Finland past the US of A in the semifinals. He showed much player growth and a bit of an offensive touch in Sweden. The Isles decided that he is a much needed part in their growth this season by signing him to a one way contract to see if he can show his upside finally in the show with a team that finally has the ship floating upright. Joensuu and Boyes will compete for the second line right winger job, the winner will likely be productive alongside Frans Neilson. Jason Banks

 

 

April, 2011 – Jesse Joensuu is a big power forward. He is strong and has a good nose for the net. He could improve his puck-handling skills. He is strong in one-on-one battles and  isn’t afraid to drop his gloves if needs to. He plays now for HV71 in Elitserien but is still targeting to become an NHL regular one day. Joensuu is a strong candidate to play for Finland in 2012 World Championships in Helsinki.

 

 

Fantasy Outlook: C+

Could be a NHL third liner right now and has a potential as a scoring second-line winger with high PIM. Chemistry with one of the many future stars would boost value significantly.
