Connor Hurley

August 2018 – After sitting out the NCAA season due to transfer rules, Hurley will look to return to NCAA hockey with Minnesota and show some big progression. This year will essentially be his last year to show that he deserves to be brought over to Buffalo and has the skills to succeed in the NHL. Primarily a play-maker, Hurley needs to use his length and skill to dominate the season and prove that his past injuries won’t affect his playing career. His current playing level is completely unknown, but hopefully he can continue off of his near point per game season in 2016-2017. Marcus Griep

December 2017 – After three years with the Irish, Hurley has transferred to the University of Minnesota. He will sit out the 2017-18 campaign per NCAA transfer rules. Prior to leaving the squad in January with an “undisclosed personal issue” Hurley scored 14 goals and 48 points in 98 Notre Dame contests. Kevin Wickersham

May 2016 – Hurley continues to grow into a great shutdown pivot down the middle. Head Coach Jeff Jackson leaned on Hurley to play against opponents top line every single game and should continue to do so next season. Hurley will be begin his junior year next season and will be relied on to bring more leadership to Notre Dame. Paul Zwambag

November 2015 – Connor Hurley scored his first goal of his sophomore season against the Northeastern Huskies. He now has one goal, four assists in nine games played. Hurley will look to improve his offensive game in his second full season with Notre Dame. He is still three to four years away from even competing for a roster spot with the Sabres, he is a long term investment that likely is only on fantasy teams with deep prospect rosters. Paul Zwambag

March 2015 – Connor Hurley’s statistics are about the same as Notre Dame’s season to date, disappointing. It’s been a rocky start to the young Sabres prospect with an underwhelming 13 points through 38 games to date. Not exactly the prodcution you would hope to see from an NHL second round pick, but also part of the ebbs and flows in hockey. Hurley has immense skill and potential and will be a strong candidate to double his totals next season, but first will be looking to help the fighting Irish fight to the finish. Travis Watson

July 2014 – Hurley got off to a slow start in Muskegon to begin the 2014 season and with his value still high and looking towards the future the Lumberjacks moved their prized asset to the Gamblers in Green Bay. Knowing Hurley was off to College they capitalized on the opportunity acquiring two defensemen, a phase two first round pick and a phase one third rounder for the 2013 Buffalo Sabres draft pick and a phase one fourth round pick.  The change of scenery did wonders for Hurley who went from 0.67 point-per-game player as a Lumberjack to a 1.03 scorer as a Gambler, just a nick over a point a game. Hurley ended his USHL season with 13G-37A-50PTS along with 32PIMS in 56 games played combined between the two rivals. He will take his talents to Notre Dame for the 2015 season. Travis Watson

July 2013 – Connor Hurley entered the 2013 draft as one of the youngest players and Buffalo chose to draft him with their 38^th overall selection. Hurley played high school hockey last season for Edina and helped lead his team to the Minnesota AA State Championship compiling 20 Goals and 32 assists in 31 games played. Hurley is a Notre Dame commit and will be lacing it up for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL, where he auditioned with last season for 14 games scoring one goal and eight assists.

Hurley is an alumni from the highly acclaimed Shattuck-St. Marys Prep school where he was part of a star studded roster including 2013 1st overall pick Nathan MacKinnon, 2nd rounder Ian Mccoshen and 3rd rounder Taylor Cammarata. Travis Watson

April 2013 – Connor Hurley is a two-way forward with some great awareness and a nose for shots that get assists rather than goals. Hurley is a physical forward that always finishes checks and rarely loses a battle along the boards. Hurley has an aptitude for defense and is great in his own zone especially on the back check. Although his numbers offensively haven’t set any fires, Hurley’s high school numbers are extremely impressive and the upside he has is enticing. Andrew Ward
