Fantasy Summary

Complementary winger with goal-scoring abilities. NHL future is very murky because he didn’t play for an entire season because of NCAA transfer rules.

March 2020 – After his rights were acquired in October by the Ottawa Senators in a minor trade for Jack Rodewald, the Colorado College winger has seen improvement in his game at the NCAA level as far as offensive production. He has exploded as a goal scorer putting up 23 goals this season after never topping six in his previous three seasons in college. At 23 years old, he has been able to push his way around and have his way with college competition to some extent. Even with the 23 goals, however, he still hasn’t even attained point-per-game status in the NCAA this season. His game is fairly predicated on the fact that he is one of the older players in college hockey and that doesn’t bode well for his future prospects of signing a deal with the Senators. I wouldn’t put too much stock in the rise in goals this season as it is unlikely that it translates to the NHL-level. There is a chance, although not a guarantee, that he signs an AHL deal out of college and could extend his hockey career through the minors. Tony Ferrari

June 2018 – Wilkie, who turns 22 next month, had to sit out the entire 2017-2018 season so that he can transfer to Colorado College. Missing an entire season of hockey during crucial development years is never a good thing, and Wilkie needs a great season in Colorado to earn himself an NHL contract.  Jokke Nevalainen

December 2017 – Following his second campaign with the Fighting Hawks Wilkie transferred to Colorado College where, due to NCAA rules, he will sit out the entire 2017-18 campaign and be eligible to play the following year. He registered 19 points in 62 University of North Dakota games. Kevin Wickersham

April 2016- Christopher Wilkie, a forward with the NCAA’s North Dakota Fighting Hawks, won the 2016 NCAA Championship. This was Chris’ first year at the NCAA level, and his offense went down this season, registering only nine points in 32 games played. Last year with the Tri-City Storm of the USHL he almost was on a point per game pace, getting 55 points in 59 games. Given his career progression, it would be expected that his offensive production would increase in his second season in North Dakota. Chris Crawford
