Observations:

 

 

February 2014 – Head coach Mike Yeo hopes to spark some offence on his second line by reuniting Charlie Coyle with Dany Heatley and Jason Zucker. Coyle has struggled as of late going pointless in his last seven games, but the reunion with the speedy Zucker should open some space and allow him to use his size in front of the net. The young power forward has 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) in 46 games so far this season. Jamie Zadow

October 2013 – The Minnesota Wild announced that Coyle will miss three to four weeks with a sprained knee that he suffered in just the second game of the season against the Anaheim Ducks. A minor setback for Coyle, who is expected to play a more expanded role up front with the club this season. Jamie Zadow

 

May 2013 –  Coyle’s 2013 rookie campaign proves he’s poised to be a very solid option for Minnesota moving forward. Since being recalled in February from the Houston Aeros (AHL), he appeared in 37 games, while recording his first 14 career NHL points, finishing fifth on the Wild in goals scored (eight). In his NHL playoff debut against the Chicago Blackhawks, Coyle recorded two points in five games, while giving the Wild a much needed physical boost on the forecheck. All signs lead to believe he’s set for an expanded role in 2014. Clayton Bailey

 

February 2013 – Coyle has been recalled by the Wild from Houston and will make his NHL debut. Coyle had 14 goals and ten assists in 44 games in the AHL and worked on improving his overall game. As with most power forwards, he needs more time to develop, but his soft hands around the net point to future success. Rich Dillon

 

March 2012 – Coyle decided to leave the NCAA and Boston University in December and joined the defending champion Saint John Sea Dogs. To say it’s been a smooth transition would be an understatement. He has clicked with fellow Minnesota prospect Zack Phillips and has put up 38 points in only 23 games. Coyle is a big strong player who competes at both ends of the rink. He’s not overly physical but he uses his size to drive the net and create room for his teammates. He’s a fantastic skater and has all the tools to become a top six winger in the NHL. Rich Dillon

Coyle has great offensive upside and could be one of the better power forwards in the NHL for years to come.
