Observations:

December 2015 – Schilling was signed to a two-year deal by the Blackhawks in July after spending three seasons in the Washington organization. The former college free agent has played in just six career NHL games and now finds himself with Rockford in the AHL. Through 11 games with the IceHogs, he has tallied seven assists. Interestingly for him, the second year of his contract turns into a one-way deal. Time is running out for Schilling, and this will pact with Chicago will likely be his last shot at making an impact at the NHL level. Matt Donohue

April 2015 – Schilling has been a top defenseman for the Bears this season, but at 26 and with the wealth of options for the capitals on defense it is unlikely the stay-at-home defenseman will crack the NHL roster. It is likely he will remain in the AHL or go overseas, but if ever called up he could be a cheap source of hits and penalty minutes. Pat Quinn

February 2014 – Schilling has only played in one NHL game since signing with the Caps in 2012. In 121 games with Hershey the past two seasons he has just 28 points but 142 PIM. He was never that productive in College and is once again showing that in the AHL. Don't expect helpful fantasy totals when he eventually gets his chance in the NHL (likely next year). Nathan Kanter

July 2012 – Cameron Schilling signed early in the spring with the Capitals after completing his college career at Miami University.  He was assigned to Hershey and was immediately inserted into the lineup.  He was among the leaders in minutes played during the playoffs.  In 4 playoff games, Schilling scored 2 goals.  Schilling is a smart defenseman who is strong in his own end and has a quick breakout pass.  While more defensive-minded, he will pinch up occasionally and has an accurate shot.  He had a strong showing at the Capitals prospect camp, and will challenge for a spot this season on the Capitals, but there is a backlog of defensemen. Eric Scheib

Fantasy Outlook: D+

Schilling is a 27 year-old career AHLer. Even if he does get a shot with Chicago, he is not likely to make much of a fantasy impact.
