Observations:

March 2017 – Taking advantage of New Jersey's declining playoff chances, a few deadline deals, and a spate of injuries spurring the recall of several former Albany Devils, the 25-year-old Coleman has recently carved out a bottom-six center role with the NHL Devils. While averaging just 11:36 of icetime per game, Coleman has often been paired with Mike Cammalleri at even strength and on the power play while continuing to display his strong work ethic and willingness to grind. Coleman has one assist in seven games since his callup, including 12 hits. At AHL Albany, he ranked second to John Quenneville on the squad in scoring with 18 goals and 16 assists in 49 games and led the club with a plus-16 rating. Kevin Wickersham

December 2016 – Now fully-recovered from shoulder surgery, Coleman has taken on a leadership role with Albany’s AHL squad after several recent forward promotions, including Miles Wood and John Quenneville, to the parent New Jersey club. With five goals and three assists 20 games into the campaign, the 25 year-old Coleman isn’t a lethal scoring threat, but provides a solid presence and tenacity in the opponent’s zone which creates good scoring opportunities. With his injury history and several prospects finding their way to the big club ahead of him, Coleman’s path to the NHL doesn’t appear too promising at the moment. – Kevin Wickersham

January 2016 – Blake Coleman was playing some pretty good hockey in his first AHL season. In 14 games Coleman scored four goals and three assists. Scoring at a .50 point per game pace. This was before Coleman suffered a season ending injury to his left shoulder. He recently had surgery on his shoulder and it was successful. Tough news for the rookie who was having a pretty solid season despite playing limited minutes on a good Albany team. Coleman still has the potential to be a bottom six player in the NHL, due to his skill and work ethic. Justin Nobre

July 2014- Blake Coleman began his junior season at Miami (NCAA) on an offensive tear putting up 10 goals and six assists in only 17 games before breaking his collarbone.  After missing over two months Coleman picked up right where he left off, contributing another nine goals to finish out the year.  Even with the missed playing time, Blake still tied for the team lead in goals. Mostly known for his physical play and relentless skating, the jury is still out whether the 3rd rounder can carry over the goal scoring prowess for Miami in his senior season.  Michael Riggi

April 2013 – Cole capped off his sophomore campaign recording nine goals and 19 points in 40 games for the Miami University placing him sixth in team scoring behind players like Austin Czarnik and Riley Barber (WSH). He played through a couple injuries to end the season but this tenascious forward appears as though he's headed towards a pro career as a third line work horse.Brendan Ross

August 2012- Coleman enjoyed a solid freshman campaign at Miami, totaling 12 goals and 11 assist while appearing in all 39 games for the Redhawks. Coleman, who also had 56 penalty minutes and was plus 13, will return to Miami this fall.  Rich Dillon

May 2011 – Blake Coleman is known for his tenacity and work ethic. Coleman does not possess high-end skill but can produce by playing hard and going to the net. With players like Adam Henrique, Jacob Josefson and Mattias Tedenby ahead of him on the depth chart, Coleman is a long ways away from a roster spot. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: D

Coleman projects as a third- or fourth-line energy player with limited offense.
