May 2022 – Hill entered the 2022 season as the backup goaltender for the San Jose Sharks with a real chance to cement himself as a permanent NHL player and potential heir to James Reimer. His future looks far more murky as we enter the 2023 season, however, due the the acquisition of Kaapo Kahkonen and his middling results (26GP, 2.66 GAA, .906 sv%). Hill is now likely back to playing third fiddle and at 26 years old with parts of five NHL seasons played, he is running out of opportunities. Donesh Mazloum

July 2021- The Coyotes were expected to protect Darcy Kuemper for the Seattle Kraken expansion draft, meaning a very good chance Hill would be selected. Instead of losing him for nothing the Coyotes have dealt Hill to San Jose along with a 2022 seventh-round pick for goalie Josef Korenar and a 2022 second-round pick. Hill, an restricted free agent this summer is now expected to be protected by the Sharks and Martin Jones will be left unprotected. As of right now, Hill is expected to be San Jose’s opening night starter in October. Keith Duggan

May 2021- Expected to be mostly on the taxi squad as the Coyotes third string goalie, Hill instead found himself playing as the team’s top or backup goalie most of 2020-21 season. Both Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta were injured for long stretches of the campaign. Hill played well, giving his team a chance to win, playing 19 games, finishing with a 9-9-1 record. He also posted solid stats, 2.74 GAA and a .913 SV%. Keith Duggan

September 2020- The Coyotes have signed Hill, an impending restricted free agent, to a one-year, one-way contract. With rumors of a possible trade request due to him believing he was ready for the NHL, this could be a sign from Arizona that they are willing to give Hill the backup role. There has also been several rumors the Coyotes are shopping both Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta to cut payroll, especially Kuemper who is due for a big raise this coming year on a new contract. Hill’s numbers have been good and he looks ready for the next step. Keith Duggan

March 2020- Eric Comrie is now gone, claimed off waivers again, which resulted in Hill jumping to the Coyotes third goalie on the depth chart. With Raanta and Kuemper hurt, Hill spent a good amount of time with Arizona until the the goalies returned. The 23-year-old was solid with the big club, registering a 2.62 GAA and .918 save percentage in 13 appearances. Hill has been down right dominate in the AHL for Tucson, though, posting a 15-5-0 record with a 2.40 GAA and .918 save percentage. He’s pushing for an NHL job. Keith Duggan

October 2019- With the Coyotes claiming Eric Comrie and signing Darcy Kuemper to an extension, Hill caused a small controversy at the end of training camp. In one of the team’s last practices of camp, Hill did not take part with what Yotes coach Rick Tocchet called a “separate issue that I’m not going to talk about.” While never revealed what the issue was, it was rumored to be Hill is upset with his role in the organization. The team now has three goalies ahead of him along with Ivan Prosvetov now considered the Coyotes “goalie of the future”. Whatever it was, Hill seems to gotten over it and was assigned to Tucson, where he is the all-time leader in wins (51), shutouts (8), save percentage (.908) and minutes played (6,236). Keith Duggan

July 2019- It was a very good year for Hill, proving he’s just about ready for the NHL. His stats cooled off after a red-hot start in the Coyotes crease but Hill helped Arizona stay afloat in the playoff race. The team claimed Calvin Pickard off waivers in November and when Darcy Kuemper returned from injury in mid January, Hill was back in the AHL to continue developing. Unlike 2017-18 when Hill and Hunter Miska split starts, the crease was firmly his as he was very good in the Tucson crease. His stats weren’t great (.906 SV%, 2.61 GAA) but Hill played behind a very young Roadrunners squad. He keep the team in many games they had no business being in with his strong play. With Raanta and Kuemper signed for this season, the Coyotes plan on having Hill spend 2019-20 in the AHL again. Keith Duggan

December 2018- With both Antti Raanta and Darcy Kuemper suffering lower-body injuries, Hill was suddenly the number one goalie in the desert and he’s responded very strongly. He’s posted a 4-0-0 record with a 0.56 goals-against-average and a .977 save percentage in five appearances this season. Hill became the youngest goalie in Coyotes history to earn a shutout and set the franchise record for longest streak by a goaltender to begin a season. For the week ending December 2nd, Hill was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for his strong play. With both Raanta and Kuemper close to returning Hill, will find himself in Tucson once again but this recent play shows a bright future for the young goalie. Keith Duggan

June 2018- Upon his return to Tucson after his recall to Arizona, where he notched his first-ever NHL win making 34 saves in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Los Angeles Kings, Hill was downright stellar. He finished the regular season playing arguably the best hockey of his career, posting a 5-1-1 record with three shutouts in eight starts leading up to the postseason. Entering the playoff’s, Hill was tabbed as Tucson’s starter, playing all nine postseason games.  Hill set the tone in Game 1 against San Jose, stopping 36 of 38 shots with Tucson winning 4-2. Hill shut out San Jose in Games 3 and 4, and the Roadrunners won the series. He posted an impressive streak of 176:48 without allowing a goal at one point. Round two was a little more difficult for Hill and his teammates, as Tucson ended up losing the series to Texas in five games. Hill still boasted good numbers though with a 2.12 GAA and .922 save percentage in nine playoff games. He needs to keep putting up strong numbers with Arizona suddenly deep in goalie prospects. Hunter Miska, Merrick Madsen and Sean Maguire are just a few of the other goalie prospects making their way up the organization and Hill will have to keep playing well to stay ahead of them. Still seems at least a few years away from full-time NHL duty especially with Raanta signed for four more years and Darcy Kuemper signed for two, but both have seen issues with injuries over the years, so Hill should get a spot start from time to time. Keith Duggan

March 2018- Hill has been recalled on an emergency basis to the Coyotes while Antti Raanta deals with a minor injury. Hill has been on fire as of late in the AHL, posting a 8-0 record in his last eight games along with a .952 SV% and 1.34 GAA. He hasn’t lost a game with Tucson since January 27th. Hill has played three games with Arizona this season and after a impressive debut, struggled in his next two starts with the team. He currently has a .880 SV% and 3.75 GAA with the Coyotes. Keith Duggan

October 2017- With Antti Raanta out with a lower body injury and Louis Domingue along with the Coyotes team struggling and badly in need of a spark, Hill was recalled from Tucson, promptly making his first NHL start against Dallas on Oct.17th. He was off to a hot start in the AHL coming off a shutout last weekend and giving up only one goal in 93 minutes in net. Even though the Coyotes lost, Hill played extremely well, making 31 saves on 33 shots. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him earn more starts till Raanta returns from injury. Keith Duggan

May 2017- Tucson and Hill’s play slipped soon after the February trade of Justin Peters as the team fell out of playoff contention and struggled down the stretch. His record and save percentage fell by season’s end to a 16-14-6 and .906%, from one of the best among rookies in the AHL at midseason to middle of the pack by the end of it. Hill’s play wasn’t as good from what it was earlier in the season but Tucson as a whole struggled mightily. He’s still expected to be the number one goalie for the Roadrunners going into the 2017-18 season, expect Hill to learn from last season and have a bounce back campaign. Keith Duggan

February 2017- It’s been an excellent start to Hill’s first pro season as he shows glimpses of maybe being the Coyotes “goalie of the future”. After beginning the season in the ECHL, he was recalled to the AHL when Mike Smith was injured and vet Justin Peters was brought up to the NHL. Hill quickly seized the number one goalie status from Marek Langhamer and hasn’t given it up since even when Peters rejoined the Tucson Roadrunners. Peters struggled with the Roadrunners (.868 save percentage, 4.17 goals against average) while Hill shined (.924% and 2.62 GAA). With Peters now dealt to the Dallas Stars organization the keys have been officially handed to Hill as Tucson’s de facto number one goalie. Hill’s .924 save percentage is first among rookie goalies and third overall in the AHL. With a 12-4-4 record, Hill is showing he’s a prospect on the up. Keith Duggan

October 2016- In a surprising move, Adin Hill has been assigned to Rapid City of the ECHL to begin his pro career. While somewhat disappointing this will allow Hill to be the team’s undisputed number one goalie. Keith Duggan

July 2016- The Coyotes have high hopes for their third round pick (76th overall) from the 2015 NHL entry draft. An unheralded player who was completely passed over in the 2011 WHL bantam draft, Hill went on to be one of the Western League’s top goalies the past two seasons. In 2013-14 he was a backup goalie in the AJHL, where Hill posted a 2-14-1 record along with a 3.92 goals against average and .897 save percentage.  The following season though Hill made the Portland Winterhawks as an 18-year old, expected to be the backup to former Coyote prospect Brendan Burke. But that changed by November as Hill had seized the number one goalie duties from Burke, appearing in the 40 of the team’s last 46 games. He recorded a 31-11-1 mark with a 2.81 GAA and leading the WHL with a .921 SV%. The 2015-16 season was an excellent one for Hill as he proved he was a legitimate NHL goalie prospect. He posted a 32-27-5 record with a .917 SV%, 2.96 GAA and three shutouts in 65 games with Portland. Hill finished the year fourth in the WHL in wins, seventh in save percentage and led the league with 2,115 saves. He was named Portland’s co-MVP, won two Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week awards in consecutive weeks (Oct. 19 – 25, Oct. 16 – Nov. 1) and was named Goaltender of the Month for October along with representing Team WHL in the 2015 CHL Canada Russia Super Series in November. After Portland’s season was over and Hill had signed his entry-level contract, he appeared in four games with the Coyotes AHL affiliate in Springfield, posting a 1-3 record with a 3.05 GAA and .905 SV%. While those weren’t great numbers he showed well on a weak Springfield team. Hill could return to the WHL for another season, but the Coyotes have other plans as they envision him sharing goaltending duties with Justin Peters in 2016-17 on their new AHL team in Tucson. That would already put him ahead of Marek Langhamer, who has a year of pro under his belt. Employing a blocking style that uses every bit of his 6-4 frame, Hill has potential to one day take over the starting job in Arizona. Keith Duggan
