Anni Karvinen’s Final 2025 Draft Ranking

Even though my work this season at Dobber has focused mainly on skaters playing in the USA and Finland (big sigh), I’ve put together a final ranking that reflects my opinion on the top players from the Class of 2025. While this isn’t the deepest class by any means, there’s some unique talent available in the top ten, and I have a feeling there will be intriguing options in the later rounds too—especially for teams willing to take big swings on high-upside players (cough cough, I’m looking at you, Canes).

First, I want to mention a few players I really like. Obviously, Schaefer and Misa are legit. Hagens too—yes, I see the concerns, but I’m a huge believer in the player and his toolkit. He’ll figure it out. Jake O’Brien? Yep, I’m a superfan. He sees the game in a way only a few do. Same goes for Kindel. I also have Cullen Potter and Ryker Lee ranked relatively high—elite skill is never easy to find, and they’re as skilled as anyone in this class.

Generally speaking, when I’m evaluating prospects, I place a lot of value on hockey IQ. Smart players usually find ways to succeed. I also really appreciate a big upside for skill and/or long development runway. That’s why you’ll see guys like West, Nestrasil, and Zharovsky in my top 32 (and Filip Ekberg sitting at 33).

Thanks for taking the time to read this—and have a great draft day!
