WHL

 

Not a lot of massive name turnover in the WHL at the beginning of the year

 

Seattle really unloaded and built for the future on January 1^st and 2^nd sending:

 

• Zack Andrusiak to the Everette Silvertips for Sean Richards, Brendan Williamson, 2nd Rnd ’19, 3rd Rnd. ’21 and a conditional 4th Rnd. ’22
• Liam Hughes and 8th Rnd. ’19 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for Keltie Jeri-Leon, Michael Horon, and 4th Rnd. ’19
• Reece Harsch to Saskatoon for Zach Ashton and 5th Rnd. ’22

 

Swift Current Broncos sent Joel Hofer to the Portland Winterhawks for 1st Rnd. ’19, 3rd Rnd. ’19, 2nd Rnd. ’20, 4th Rnd. ’20, 5th Rnd. ’20, and 1st Rnd. ’21

 

Medicine Hat sent Henry Rybinski to Seattle for Aidan Brook, 2nd Rnd. ’19 and 3rd Rnd. ’20

 

Brandom Wheat Kings sent Schael Higson to Kelowna for Braydyn Chizen and 5th Rnd. ’19

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies made four big moves from January 4^th to the 6^th sending:

 

• Maximilien Ledoux, 3^rd Rnd 2019, 4^th Rnd 2019, 4^th Rnd 2020, 1^st Rnd 2021 and 4^th Rnd 2021 to Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (BLB) for Joel Teasdale
• Pierre-Olivier Bourgeois to the Shawinigan Cataractes for 3^rd Rnd 2019 and 5^th Rnd 2019 (BLB)
• William Dufour, 1^st Rnd 2019, 1^st Rnd 2020, 2^nd Rnd 2020, 2^nd Rnd 2021 and 3^rd Rnd 2021 to Chicoutimi Saguenéens (CS) for 1^st Rnd 2019, 2^nd Rnd 2019, 1^st Rnd 2020 and 1^st Rnd 2021 (Acadie-Bathurst Titan)
• The biggest move came from them obtaining Noah Dobson from Acadie-Bathurst for 1^st Rnd 2019 (CS), 2^nd Rnd 2019 (CS), 1^st Rnd 2020 (CS) and 1^st Rnd 2021 (BAT)

 

Drummondville Voltigeurs obtained Michal Ivan from Acadie-Bathurst for Oliver Turan and 3^rd Rnd 2020, and on the same day acquired Shane Bowers for Ryan Leonard and Max Sauve. They also acquired Remy Anglehart and 6^th Rnd 2019 from Blainville-Boisbriand for Benjamin Corbeil and 6^th Rnd 2020.

OHL

 

The bigger names really got moved around here

 

On January 3^rd Mississauga traded Ryan McLeod to the Saginaw Spirit for Duncan Penman, 3^rd Rnd 2019 (LDN), 2^nd Rnd 2020, 3^rd Rnd 2022, 3^rd Rnd 2024, and 2^nd 202 (conditional)*. Two days later the Steelheads moved Owen Tippitt also to Saginaw for Aidan Prueter, 3^rd Rnd 2019, 7^th Rnd 2019, 2^nd Rnd 2020 (BAR), 3^rd Rnd 2020 (SAR), 7^th Rnd 2020, and 2^nd Rnd 2021 (SBY).

 

All on January 5^th Guelph obtained:

• MacKenzie Entwistle from the Hamilton Bulldogs for 2^nd Rnd 2020 (KIT), 2^nd Rnd 2020 (NB), 3^rd Rnd 2020 (KIT), 3^rd Rnd 2021 (WSR) and 3^rd Rnd 2023
• Markus Phillips from Oshawa for 2^nd Rnd 2019 (PBO – conditional), 2^nd Rnd 2020 (MISS), 3^rd Rnd 2021 (ER), 2^nd Rnd 2022 (NB), 3^rd Rnd 2024 and 4^th Rnd 2023 (conditional)
• Fedor Gordeev from Flint for 2^nd Rnd 2021 (MISS), 2^nd Rnd 2024, 3^rd Rnd 2022 (SBY – conditional) and 5^th Rnd 2022 (conditional)

 

Kingston moved Brett Neumann to Oshawa for Nick Wong, 2^nd Rnd 2021 (KGN), 3^rd Rnd 2019 (KGN) and 2^nd Rnd 2024 (WSR – conditional)

 

Oshawa sent Matt Brassard and Jack Studnicka to Niagra for Lleyton Moore, 2^nd Rnd 2020 (LDN), 2^nd Rnd 2021 (OSH), 2^nd Rnd 2022 (MISS), 3^rd Rnd 2022 (PBO), 3^rd Rnd 2023 and 3^rd Rnd 2024 (MISS).

 

Kyle Maksimovich was moved by the Erie Otters to the Ottawa 67’s for Austen Swankler, 2^nd Rnd 2019 (NIAG), 13^th Rnd(?) 2019, 2^nd Rnd 2020 and 2^nd Rnd 2024 (conditional).

 

Hamilton made a few moved sending:

• Brandon Saigeon to Oshawa for 2^nd Rnd 2019 (LDN), 2^nd Rnd 2022 and 3^rd Rnd 2024
• Nicolas Mattinen also to Oshawa for Eric Henderson, 2^nd Rnd 2020 (LDN) and 3^rd Rnd 2022 (PBO)

 

The Owen Sound Attack made a HUGE trade yesterday (well today as I write this) sending Sean Durzi, Zachary Roberts, and Nick Suzuki to Guelph for Barret Kirwin, Zach Poirier, Mark Woolley, 4^th Rnd 2019, 3^rd Rnd 2021, 2^nd Rnd 2022 and 3^rd Rnd 2022 (conditional)

 

Guelph just shot up ALL rankings
