Observations:
March 2018 – After Piccinich did not make the Marlies in his first season as a pro, he was sent to the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. In 66 games with the Solar Bears, he has 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points. He'll attempt to work his way up to the Marlies next season, and try to earn an NHL contract at some point. December 2017 – Piccinich is a hard working player that played for the Hunters in London with near a point per game stats in junior. He is an energy player with solid defensive skills, but not a sharp shooter. His foot speed is limited and he failed to make the Marlies in his first year as a pro, as such the Orlando Solar bears have been his team in his first year as a pro. His best chance to make the NHL will be as a fourth line energy winger and penalty kill specialist, but right now that would seem to be a long shot at best. His fantasy value is very limited at best. November 2016 – Way back in the distant past, or so it feels with the Toronto organization, John JJ Piccinich was selected as a raw talent out of the USHL after taking a huge step as a minor junior and producing just under a point per game. After a rather ugly NCAA season, the organizations development management got together and talked Piccinich into leaving the US college system and play Major Junior in Ontario. He joined a very strong London Squad that featured nine projectable NHL prospects and was instantly a top-six forward amongst them. While the ceiling is not overly high, he looks to become a very serviceable, creative, power winger that can play up and down the lineup. His stats are rather inflated in junior and with an already failed attempt at playing against older more seasoned talent, it is questionable on how he will translate to pro, but he will have time to hopefully grow into the player he needs to become. One current maturity step has been recently taken, as Piccinch has recently been named captain of the Knights. Jason Banks
