Observations:
Jan 2018 – Freddie continued to be a press box champion for the Flames and was a solid vet who could be put into the lineup in a pinch. Eventually, they put him on waivers to give other AHL forwards some time in the NHL and he was grabbed by Arizona. It's a puzzling move considering he most likely won't get considerable time with them as well. – Joel Henderson
Jun 2017 – Look to the status from October. Hamilton was the go-to sub for the Flames. His role was simply.. to fill multiple roles and be solid two-ways. When Calgary was circling options to play with Gaudreau and Monahan on the right side, everyone was considered. While there were memorable moments for the bro tendem in Calgary, Freddie did not put up enough offensive numbers to have any sort of hype moving forward. What you see is what you get. – Joel Henderson
Oct 2016 – It's been great news for Freddie to begin the season with the Flames, but I'm sure he would like to be on the ice instead of the press box. This might end up being his role for most of this season due to his versitility. He could be up for a few games, down for a few games, and sitting in the press box. Classic depth player who can bring reliable bottom-six minutes at this point. – Joel Henderson
June 2016 – Calgary has chosen to extend Freddie a qualifying offer. He remains an NHL depth option at both C and RW. This is a commodity they obviously are not ready to let go of. – Joel Henderson
Mar 2016 – Freddie has been a steady force for Stockton this season. At times he's been a jack of all trades by rotating lines and positions. He's been recalled on an emergency basis by Calgary and looks like he might see some time as a C with the club. While he has a varied amount of tools, don't expect him to impact the game very much beyond providing a solid two-way game. – Joel Henderson
Dec 2015 – He is currently leading the Stockton Heat in points with 14 in 17 games. He is no stranger to playing in NHL games and look for him to play a few more with Calgary at some point this season. He is earning that opportunity. – Joel Henderson
October 2015 – Hamilton has been traded to the Calgary Flames, where his brother Dougie currently plays. Hayden Soboleski
July 2015 – The Avalanche have tendered a qualifying offer to RFA Hamilton. If he returns to the organization, Hamilton will become an bottom-six depth option for Colorado, where he spent most of his time after being acquired at the trade deadline. Hamilton finished the 2014-15 season with one point in 18 NHL games and 34 points in 57 AHL games. Colorado will have several bottom-six options for the 2015-16 season, most of which have greater offensive upside than Hamilton; his defensive responsibility may earn him an occasional roster spot, but his fantasy value has become nearly nonexistent. Hayden Soboleski
March 2015 – San Jose Sharks trade Freddie Hamilton to the Colorado Avalanche for defenseman Karl Stollery. In his third AHL campaign, Freddie Hamilton has scored nine goals and 30 points in 49 games with Worcester, offering a solid two-way versatile game. It's expected that Freddie Hamilton will report to the Lake Erie Monsters. Brendan Ross
February 2015 – The 23-year-old continues to plug away at the AHL level, getting spot call-ups to the big club. But at this point it's clear that the Sharks will never use him in a top-six role and it's possible that he'll go no higher than the fourth line. There are several very good options in the system that the Sharks can turn to for offense and Hamilton isn't one of them. Dobber
October 2013 – Hamilton has been called up to play in the absence of Brent Burns. He'll likely be sent back down once Burns comes back, but this is a good opportunity for him to get his feet wet and be better prepared for the next call-up. Tim Graveline
September 2013 – Hamilton is one of the few young guys who truly has a chance to fight for a roster spot out who are not regular players with the big club already. He will most likely go back to Worcester, but he does have a strong game and if he performs well, could be in for a chance at the opening left by Martin Havlat's injury. Tim Graveline
February 2013 – Hamilton has had a decent rookie season for the Worcester Sharks. His scoring ability has shown promise with his 14 points in 46 games. This is a low points per game average, but keep in mind that he's still young and is learning how to play with the men. Expect him to be one of the points leaders in his sophomore season with Worcester. Tim Graveline
March 2012 – Freddie Hamilton is a hard-working player who can excel in several different roles on a team. He has the offensive touch to be a top six forward, but is also adept at the defensive side of the game. He took some time to adjust to the OHL game, but Hamilton has been in the top two in team scoring for the past two seasons. Hamilton also proved he could be an effective player under pressure playing for Team Canada’s World Junior squad this season. Hamilton’s biggest strength is his ability to battle hard for pucks and usually come out on top. Thomas Wall
Hamilton’s offensive potential is limited and outmatched at the NHL level. He slots in usually in defensive or two-way minutes.
