Observations:

November 2017- Roller coaster. A great start to the season has slowly dwindled away leaving Hartman as a healthy scratch. This is more of a message to the team rather than a direct message. That being said, he will need to get back to playing his gritty style of hockey if he wants to see more time in the top six. Tony Carr

April 2017- Hartman concluded his rookie season finishing ninth on the team in scoring with 31 points. He has established himself as a solid option in the bottom six of this lineup, with the ability to move up the roster when called on. Hartman is another player to keep an eye on with the possible changes coming to the Blackhawks roster. Regardless of his position in the lineup, all signs point to him staying in the NHL. He has one year remaining on his current contract before becoming an RFA. Tony Carr

January 2017- as a rookie in the NHL, Hartman seems comfortable enough to play his game and is making a case to be a permanent fixture in the Hawks lineup for years to come. Sitting eighth in team scoring at the halfway point of his first season, highlighted by his first career hat trick, Hartman’s name has been mentioned as future captain material. While this seems far-fetched given the Blackhawks current roster, the fact it is even being mentioned speaks to Hartman’s value both on and off the ice.~Tony Carr

November 2016 – The Hawks needed to fill a role with the departure of Andrew Shaw, and Hartman is doing just that. Playing an aggressive, agitating style, he has done so without taking any penalties and while chipping in with some offence as well. Tony Carr

January 2016 – The former first rounder is now in his second full professional season, spending most of the 2015-16 season thus far in Rockford. He is second on the team with 10 goals and leads the team with 73 PIMs. He was summoned to the Blackhawks back in October after a hot start in the AHL, but wasn’t able to parlay that success into an extended stay with the big club. As of now it appears that he has been passed over by other prospects on the pecking order and barring injury, should play out the remainder of the year with the IceHogs. Matt Donohue

January 2015 – After a successful couple of seasons with the Plymouth Whalers where he was a point-per-game player, Hartman has struggled to fill the stat sheet in his first full professional season with Rockford. Through 42 games, the 2013 first rounder has seven goals and eight assists to go along with 72 PIMs.Still just 20 years of age, Hartman has plenty of time to develop his offensive game in the minors, so this lack of production should not be a long-term concern. With all their depth up front, Chicago is not afraid to let their prospects mature in the minors.Matt Donohue

April 2014 – Hartman wrapped up a successful second season with the Plymouth Whalers, notching 53 points in just 52 games. Perhaps most importantly for his fantasy future, he picked up seven points in nine games with Rockford of the AHL, displaying instant chemistry with fellow prospect Phillip Danault. Upon the conclusion of Rockford and Plymouth's seasons, Chicago called up Hartman to be a Black Ace for their playoff run.

November 2013 – The Chicago Blackhawks have signed their 2013 1st round selection, Ryan Hartman, to a three-year entry level contract. Hartman has tallied 21 points through 20 games to lead his Plymouth Whalers in the OHL. Brendan Ross

September 2013- Hartman has been sent back the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL. Hartman received a long look in training camp with Chicago and returns to Plymouth with a good sense of what it will take to make it back there. In his rookie season with the Whalers Hartman posted 60 points and 120 PIM in 56 games. Rex Doty

February 2013 – Ryan Hartman defines the agitator role as he plays with intense physicality and is engaged in a non-stop puck pursuit game. Fortunately, Hartman’s game also includes a skilled offensive package that is highlighted by a rare net drive ability one rarely sees in a sub-6-foot body frame. Hartman excels in traffic and seeks to engage himself physically – two qualities that were front and center during his outstanding World Junior performance. Hartman will certainly be appealing to NHL teams after the recent successes of similar smaller energy NHL players like Brad Marchand and Steve Downie. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: C+

Pesky forward with slick puck skills that projects as a potential top-nine versatile forward.
