Observations:

June 2017 – Beauvillier had a fine rookie season for a 19-year-old. As the Isles underwent some changes during the season, including the dismissal of Head Coach Jack Capuano, Beauvillier's slot in the lineup also bounced around a bit. He did find some late season success with fellow youngster Josh Ho-Sang, notching nine points in his last 16 games. The 2015 first-round selection clearly has the goods to be a player in the NHL. His role should continue to grow in 2017-18, but he isn't on a level that allows him to be impervious to growing pains either. He certainly has top-six upside. Michael Farkas

November 2016Many out there felt that it was another Islanders prospect that had the better shot to make the roster out of training camp in Mathew Barzal, but I think position played a factor in the Islanders keeping Beauvillier. He plays on the wing which allowed Jack Capuano to place him with different players up and down his lineup until he felt that Beauvillier had the makeup to play in a "bottom six" role. He has moved up and down the lineup so far this season, and that is the beauty of being a winger. With the poor start to Andrew Ladd it allowed him to move up to a more natural scoring position with offensive minded players around him, but when he was asked, he was able to be effective playing with more traditional 'energy' players. Playing past his 10 games and having five points (.50ppg) must have fantasy owners excited, because in most keeper leagues he was probably drafted with the future in mind. Because of the fact that he has made the Islanders roster, he will be owned more in regular leagues as well as keeper leagues, so those of you out there who did draft him in your keeper league – nice job. He projects to be a top six forward in the NHL along the likes of Jonathan Marchessault. Note: Outside chance that he will be loaned to Canada at the World Juniors. Kevin Pedersen

May 2016 – Anthony Beauvillier is enjoying a tremendous 2015-16.  He finished the regular season with 40 goals and 79 points in just 47 games played, averaging a ludicrous 5.06 shots per game in the process.  His 1.68 points-per-game was good for third in the QMJHL, behind only Conor Garland (ARZ) and Francis Perron (OTT).  Beauvillier’s dominance has carried over into the playoffs, where he leads the QMJHL with 26 points in 16 games.  His line with Dmytro Timashov (TOR) and Alexis D’Aoust has been unstoppable through three rounds.  Shawinigan will play the winner of  Rouyn-Noranda and Moncton for the President Cup and the right to represent the Q at the Memorial Cup in Red Deer.  Beauvillier possesses an NHL release and plays a mature, 200 foot game.  He will give the Islanders’ brass something to think about at next year’s training camp. He has clearly outgrown juniors at this point.- Brent Craswell

Dec 2015 – Beauvillier had been relegated to the 13th forward spot as the game versus the USA wore on and was at the position when Canada took on Denmark, but an illness to Gauthier opened the door for him and he scored a goal for Canada in the win. He has the skill to put up points in the right role, however, he will likely be relegated to a depth role unless injuries open the door. Pat Quinn

Nov 2015 – Beauvillier was named captain for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL this season and has taken off offensively. In 16 games he has 31 points with 14 goals and 17 assists, siting tied for tenth in QMJHL scoring. He has been very impressive to start the year and could surpass the 94 points he put up last season if he stays on this pace. Pat Quinn

Oct 2015 – Beauvillier was cut mid-camp by the Islanders as it was clear he needed more development time. He was returned back to the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL where he will wear the C this season and likely have a prominent role on team Canada at the World Juniors. Watch him close. Pat Quinn

June 2015 – New York Islanders traded up to select forward Anthony Beauvillier with the 28th selection at the 2015 NHL Draft. Brendan Ross

March 2015 –Anthony Beauvillier doesn’t possess ideal size but despite being short in stature his balance and strength isn’t much of an issue, mainly due to his stocky build. In two short seasons in the Q, Beauvillier has proven to be a lethal scoring, racking up 40 goals and 86 points through 60 games in 2014-15. The 2013 2nd overall selection of Shawinigan has also represented Canada several times internationally always inheriting a leadership and offensive role. There is no denying Beauvillier’s offensive abilities but where scouts are most impressed is how mature the young lad is. Beauvillier is thrown out in all situations and proves to be an efficient shutdown forward when needed. Poised in possession and quick in flight, Beauvillier dictates the pace of the game through his above average hockey sense. His older brother, Francis, was drafted by the Nashville Predators. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook:  B+

Plays the game enthusiastically and with a high-end skill set. He started to show more and more confidence as his rookie season went on and he isn't shy about pulling the trigger on a shot.
