Observations:

June 2017 – After being cut loose by Columbus and signing a one-year, two-way contract last summer as a free agent, Paliotta had a goal and 13 assists in 52 AHL games with the Hartford Wolf Pack. Mark Allan

March 2015 – Since being drafted by the Blackhawks in 2011, Paliotta has transformed himself into a solid two-way defenseman. Coming out of the US NDTP, he was seen as a more of a stay at home D-man but as he has matured at the University of Vermont, so has his offensive game. Over the last two seasons, Paliotta compiled 14 goals and 49 assists in 79 games. In 2014-15 as a senior, Paliotta served as the team captain and led the team in scoring. Just as rumors started to swirl that he may pull a Kevin Hayes on the Hawks and take his talents elsewhere, Paliotta signed a two-year contract on March 26th. The development of Paliotta over the past few years certainly allowed the Hawks to ship out some of the prospects the way they have over the past year.

It remains to be seen if/how he will be used down the stretch by the Blackhawks, but he would be eligible to play in the NHL playoffs should his services be required. Matt Donohue

Fantasy Outlook C+

Has always had the size and defensive game, but the development of his offensive game throughout his NCAA career understandably has NHL teams (and poolies) interested. At this point, it looks like he should get a chance to crack the lineup in 2015-16. Everyone knows changes are coming in Chicago, and guys like Paliotta should benefit from this. He certainly has the look of a top-four defenceman.
