Shoots: L |
Height: 6-1 |
Weight: 192 |
Born: 1991-09-25 |
Hometown: Whitby, ON, CAN |
Drafted: 2011 by Nashville Predators, 94th overall |
Observations:
June 2017 – In his five pro seasons, the former OHLer has played in 58 AHL games, 263 ECHL games and zero NHL games. A good scorer at the ECHL level, he’s 25 and looking like a career minor-leaguer. Mark Allan
November 2016 – Since the 2014-2015 season Shalla has been playing in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye and the Wheeling Nailers. He hasn’t played a single AHL game since 2013-2014. At age 25, its likely that we will never see him skating at the NHL. Niko Salminen
May 2014 – After being passed over in his first year of draft eligibility, Nashville selected Shalla in the fourth round of the 2011 draft. Since then, Shalla has struggled to crack the Predators AHL team full time bouncing between the Milwaukee Admirals and the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. As of now Shalla seems stuck as an ECHL/AHL tweener. This past season he posted a paltry four points in 26 games with the Admirals yet was a point-per-game player with the Cyclones. Shalla is among the ECHL playoff leading scorers. Donesh Mazloum
Shalla has shown an ability to pile up points in the ECHL, however it seems doubtful that he will fill that role at the NHL level.
