Observations:
March 2017 – Stecher has continued to put up positive first year numbers. Seeing just shy of three minutes a night on the Canucks top power play unit and over 20 minutes in all situations, the former UND standout has been gaining invaluable experience that will hopefully yield bulging results when the Vancouver youth movement finally arrives. As a smart, offensively-minded right-handed defenseman, Stecher is trending into a very valuable commodity for the Canucks and has the potential to do the same for fantasy squads as well. December 2016 – Due to injuries to the Canucks' top pairing of Alex Edler and Chris Tanev, Stecher has been up with the big squad and seeing big minutes. He's been seeing 21-plus minutes a night and close to three minutes on the top power play unit. His seven points in 21 games doesn't jump off the page but he's firing three shots on goal per night which is extremely impressive for a rookie defender. He's been a fantastic addition to the Canucks' organization and should be a staple on that top power play for years to come. Cam Robinson
October 2016 – Stecher has been recalled from the Utica Comets and will dress for his NHL debut tonight. Judging by the game day skate, he will slot in next to Alex Edler on the first pairing and next to Philip Larsen on the first power play unit. It should be an exciting night for the Vancouver-product, playing in front of his home crowd with friends and family in the house. Cam Robinson
September 2016 – After a successful three-year stint at the University of North Dakota, Stecher signed with his hometown Canucks following an NCAA championship victory alongside now-franchise mate Brock Boeser. Stecher will battle in camp for a spot among the top eight defenders but is most likely to spend the majority of the season in Utica of the AHL. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in smarts. Fantasy Outlook: B+
What he lacks in size he makes up for in skill and determination. A strong puck mover with offensive skills to burn.
