Prospect Ramblings: Marner’s injury, Kempe’s debut and Strome’s stick-trick (Feb 16)

Mitch Marner Injured Face

Biggest prospect news from last night, Mitch Marner left the game early after crashing awkwardly into the boards after a hit with Boone Jenner. He played a few more shifts, but just didn’t seem to feel right. He was favouring his right arm on the bench. Marner left the game with 15 minutes left in the third period. Disappointing to see him leave early, hopefully he is alright and it was just precautionary. We will have to wait and see if he misses any time. Marner is currently leading the Leafs with 48 points (15-33), two ahead of fellow rookie teammate Auston Matthews. Below is a highlight reel of Marner’s incident and the rest of his game, cameras were on him at all times.

On a little bit of a happier note, Oliver Bjorkstrand played in that same game last night and scored his first goal of the year, he has only played six games, but it was his first game since being recalled earlier this week and he was able to put up a tally for the Blue Jackets, which ended up being the game winner.

If you read yesterday’s Prospect Ramblings from Kevin LeBlanc, a commenter noted that Bjorkstrand was being given a great opportunity playing with Alex Wennberg and Brandon Saad. It benefits to read the article and the extra comments at the end. Well done monsieurthibz. It helped me, I moved Bjorkstrand into my lineup in the DPFHL (league played by DobberProspects scouts). You can also make comments on the bottom of each and every ramblings and articles to give readers a heads up if we missed any crucial Prospect information. The Dobber community is a very helpful tool for any fantasy hockey manager.

Los Angeles Kings #1 fantasy ranked prospect, Adrian Kempe will make his NHL debut tonight. As our Los Angeles Kings scout (Philip Kamhi) tweeted out; Kempe will be playing on a line with Anze Kopitar and Tyler Toffoli. Another great tidbit of information and a great opportunity for Kempe to put up points right away. I also like the line name of ‘Double AK Cupcake’. Let’s see if it sticks.

In news away from the NHL. Dylan Strome did something pretty fascinating last night in the Erie Otters game verse the London Knights (see below). By the way, what a game to watch. Erie took the game 5-1, the Strome-DeBrincat-Raddysh line finished with seven points combined. Dylan Strome (2-1), Taylor Raddysh (0-2) and Alex DeBincat (1-2). That line has been great all year, and got so much better when Strome returned from Arizona. Look out for the Otters this year to represent the OHL at the Memorial Cup in Windsor.

And now something that is the furthest from NHL prospect news. Jaromir Jagr records his 1900th career point last night. And it just happened to be on his birthday, well Happy 45th Birthday Mr. Jaromir Jagr. Well Done!
