Recapping Last Night

Washington's Jakub Vrana started slowly from a points perspective since his call-up from the Hershey Bears, but he has started heating up with three points in his last three games. He has always been a high-volume shooter and that has continued in the NHL. In his seven games, the 2014 first round pick is averaging 2.29 shots per game. His two assists helped the Capitals to a 4-2 win over the floundering Islanders on Tuesday.

***

29 year-old rookie Derek Ryan has continued his hot streak with seven points in his last four games. He had been receiving increased playing time due to Jordan Staal's injury, but last night when Staal returned to the lineup, Ryan had his best night of his NHL career with three assists. He seems to be developing some chemistry with Jeff Skinner and Victor Rask, which will greatly increase his fantasy value.

***

Anthony DeAngelo picked up his first goal since returning to the lineup after a short stint in the American Hockey League. He's up to eight points in 14 NHL games this season with solid peripheral stats. DeAngelo is averaging nearly two blocked shots and two shots on goal per game. He should continue to be a integral part of the Coyotes in a year where there will be a lot of moving parts come trade deadline time.

***

Victor Arvidsson hasn't been given his due this season despite having a breakout offensive campaign with 19 points in 28 games. The 23 year-old is riding a four game point streak picking up two assists in the Predators comeback win over St. Louis last night. Arvidsson has been averaging nearly 16 minutes per night and has 92 shots on the season.
