Drafted: 2008 2nd round 37th overall – Columbus Blue Jackets |
Observations:
December 2016 – In wake of Eric Johnson's injury, Goloubef has been called up to the Avs. With the current defensive play being so poor, who knows how much ice time the newcomer could earn. Hayden Soboleski
December 2016 – Goloubef has been traded to the Colorado Avalanche in a straight-up swap of a left-hand defenceman for a right-hand one. He will slide into the AHL lineup immediately on the right side. With so many Columbus connections in the organization these days, it was only a matter of time until some coach's picks got acquired to fill specific roles. Hayden Soboleski
May 2015 – After spending the last three season going back and forth between the AHL and NHL, Goloubef finally got an extended chance with the Jackets. He was called up in January and spent the rest of the season with the Jackets where he put up nine assists in 36 games. While not an offensive juggernaut, Goloubef killed a lot of penalties and was quite responsible in his own end, finishing the season as a +9. He’s also not afraid to challenge opponents to a fight. – Chris Bagwell
April 2014 – Goloubef is enjoying his most successful season with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. Currently, in his fourth season with the team, he has piled up 24 points in 57 games. He’s a responsible defenseman (plus-10) who understands the game well. His on-ice vision and hockey IQ are his strongest attributes. Goloubef is not afraid to mix it up as well. He has 89 PIMs this season. Chris Bagwell
March 2013 – Columbus’ brass are really starting to take real notice of Goloubef’s talents and giving him opportunities to make the team as a regular. He is yet to really put his foot down at the NHL level, but his growth and maturity in the AHL is very evident. His production in Springfield is about on pace with other one sided defensemen, but it is his in-game involvement that could prove to be an X-factor. He is still likely a year away from being an NHL regular, but his growth this season should make ‘poolies’ aware that he does has above average potential and could turn into a good all-around defenseman to own. Jason Banks
November 2012 – Goloubef is projected to be out of the AHL's Springfield Falcons lineup for 6-10 weeks after breaking his hand from a slash. The Blue Jackets defensive prospect has 3 assists, 10 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating for Springfield. Brendan Ross
March 2012 – Goloubef possesses that gifted skating and offensive instincts from the back-end that all teams desire. He has great talent in joining the rush, finding open teammates, and tremendous poise with the puck. He developed his game through the NCAA route at powerhouse Wisconsin under Coach Mike Eaves. There is opportunity to become a top defenseman in the NHL, but he will need to work on strength and his physicality. Goloubef is currently in his second pro season with the Falcons in AHL. Russ Bitely
Fantasy Outlook: C+
He’s only played 53 career NHL games, but Goloubef appears to have solidified himself as a bottom-pair defenseman. This may not be useful in most fantasy formats, but the Blue Jackets appears to enjoy his responsible play.
