Observations:

November 2016 – After being activated from the injured reserve and assigned to Lehigh Valley, Scott Laughton has been cleaning house. He’s got seven points through six games so far and seems to have put his lower-body ailment well into the rear view mirror. Edric Joseph

April 2016 – Laughton played his first full season at the NHL level this season, scoring 21 points while appearing in 71 games. He appeared in three playoff games, leaving the third game after suffering a scary injury when he slammed into the end boards awkwardly following a collision with John Carlson. He was released from hospital the following day, however he will likely not return during the playoffs. The reliable two-way forward should continue to see bottom-six minutes for the Flyers next season. Lee Rayson

February 2015 – Laughton has been sent back to Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League. After posting six points in 31 games, the top offensive propsect will return to the Phantoms as their number one centerman and will likely regain his chemistry with fellow scorer Taylor Leier, who will benefit from having Laughton back in the lineup. The 20th overall pick in 2012 had missed a number of games after being concussed at the hands of Matt Niskanen during a contest against the rival Washington Capitals. As a victim of the numbers game with the emergence of Ryan White, Laughton will no doubt continue his development in Lehigh Valley where he recorded 13 points in 17 games before his recall earlier this season. The simple truth is that Laughton is first in line to be recalled down the stretch if need be and will be a major player for the Flyers for years to come.

December 2014 – Since being recalled by the Flyers on November 19th, Laughton has been a mainstay in the lineup despite Philadelphia's recent struggles. The 20 year-old center has received praise from head coach Craig Berube for his work ethic and is averaging over 13 minutes of ice time per game (including special teams). Currently playing on a line with Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds, he has recorded two assists and a minus-two rating in 10 NHL contests Zach Hopkins

October 2014 – Laughton has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 19th. He scored four12 first roun goals in his first two games including two on the powerplay and one shorthanded Zach Hopkins

October 2014 – Perhaps the only forward prospect with fantasy relevance this season (other than Jason Akeson), the 2012 first round pick was sent down to Lehigh Valley where he will likely play with Taylor Leier. The duo looked good together in rookie and training camp and Laughton will likely get called up to Philadelphia if a problem should arise down the middle Zach Hopkins

May 2014 – Scott Laughton was named to the OHL's 1st All-Star Team after leading his team in goals (40) and finishing second in points (87). After playing four years of junior hockey, it is expected that Laughton will compete for a roster spot when Flyers open camp in the fall. Expect Laughton to be phased into the lineup playing both in defensive and offensive situations. Brendan Ross

December 2013 – Scott Laughton is one of 13 forwards selected to the Canadian Under-20 World Junior roster for the upcoming Championships in Malmo, Sweden. The Flyers 2012 1st rounder will also serve as Canada's captain and will be leaned on to provide both offence and shutdown the opponents top line defensively. Brendan Ross

November 2013 – Scott Laughton of the Oshawa Generals was named to the OHL roster for the 2013 SUBWAY Super Series. The Flyers prospect has 25 points through 13 games this season placing him second in team scoring. Brendan Ross

October 2013 – After being re-assigned to the Oshawa Generals, Scott Laughton's OHL season debut was nothing short of spectacular scoring three times and recording nine points in three wins. Laughton was named OHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 6th, 2013. Brendan Ross

October 2013 – The Philadelphia Flyers have reassigned Scott Laughton to the OHL's Oshawa Generals team. Brendan Ross

October 2013 – According to the Philadelphia Flyers opening night roster, Scott Laughton has earned himself a spot in the NHL. He is still eligible to be returned to the juniors, so his first nine games may once again be more of a “tryout”. Flyers will re-evaluate his position at that point. Jenn Lardani

April 2013 – The April recall party for the Philadelphia Flyers continues as they’ve decided to call up a few more prospects, including centremen Scott Laughton.  With just three games left in the season the Flyers are going to test out their youth, unfortunately for Laughton he already played five games for the big club earlier in the season.  This means that, well, unless the Flyers want to burn the first year of his contract to see him play a game or two, Laughton’s call up is simply for experience.  But it’s still a shot of confidence to the Oakville, Ontario native, as it shows he’ll contest for a roster spot in September.  Laughton and his Oshawa Generals were swept in the second round of the OHL playoffs by the Barrie Colts. Nathan Martin

February 2013 – Looks like Laughton's Cup of tea with the Flyers woke up his offence. Since being sent back to junior, Laughton has been on an absolute tear (for Oshawa, OHL) riding an eight-game point streak, notching 16 points in seven games since his return. If the Flyers weren't already impressed with his play on his recall they will be thrilled to see his offence coming along now. – Travis Watson

January 2013 – Laughton was sent back to Oshawa to continue to dominate at the OHL level. Despite not scoring any points he did create opportunities and put ten shots on the net. The coaching staff and ‘experts’ have raved at how well he did play and how bright his future is for the Flyer organization. Jason Banks

October 2012 – Scott Laughton has been suspended 10 games for a check to the head. Brendan Ross October 2012 – Scott Laughton was named to the 2012 Subway Super Series Team OHL Roster slated to compete in a six-game series versus the Russian National Junior Team in November. Brendan Ross

June 2012 – Not surprisingly, Scott Laughton goes earlier than most expected after the Flyers used their 19th overall pick to select this versatile hard working character forward, a player that fits perfectly within the Flyers' organization. – Brendan Ross

May 2012 – The Oshawa Generals third overall pick in the 2010 OHL priority selection, Laughton is a great two way center that wins faceoffs and kill penalties as well as being a great powerplay asset. Laughton cycles the puck in the offensive zone very well and pressures the opposing defensemen on the forechecks effectively. He also has a great shot from the slot that beats goaltenders in all corners which complements his playmaking skills. Laughton has to improve his foot speed and his puck handling in tight areas. Laughton has great acceleration but his overall skating needs work which can be helped by a better stride. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: B-

Potential to be a responsible third-line, two-way center at the NHL level with second-line upside.
