Observations:
September 2016- After a tough season in North America, Niklas Treutle has signed in Finland, signing a one-year deal with Liiga's KooKoo. He posted a 6.04 GAA and .750 SAV% in the NHL and a 3.04 GAA with a .905% in the AHL last season. Keith Duggan
March 2016- It was a rough first NHL start for Niklas Treutle, one that saw the goalie sent back to Springfield of the AHL after the game. After being recalled to backup Louis Domingue when Andres Lindback was injured, Treutle sat on the bench for a couple weeks before finally getting his chance on March 3rd against the hot Anaheim Ducks. Unfortunately, he let in goals on his first two shots and stopped just 11 of 16 shots in two periods before being pulled. In the AHL, Treutle can work on regaining his confidence and could see himself back in the NHL before season's end but fantasy wise he doesn't offer much right now. Keith Duggan
February 2016 – In his first year on the North American continent, Treutle has already received the opportunity to spend time in the NHL. He first burst onto the radar in the 2010-11 World Junior Championship when he out played the incumbent and NHL prospect Philipp Grubauer and was third best goaltender of the tournament behind a weak team. He was ranked 11th amongst Euro goalies in his draft year but was passed up. He has been seeing action in the DEL (German Elite League) since the age of 17 mostly as a backup, but after posting the levels’ top goals against average (2.08), Arizona signed him to a single year Entry Level Contract. The year started off a little rough and inconsistent, after 16 appearances he had a GAA of 3.26 and SV% of .900, since mid-January he has been strong posting 2.31 and .924 in 10 games. He a typical German goalie, playing low to the ice with a bit of a forward hunch, daring shooters to beat him over the shoulders. He has excellent side to side movement with powerful pushes and rather patient allowing plays to develop in front of him before reacting to his reads. He also has a fun, outward personality that is very well liked in the dressing room. Jason Banks
Has work to do polishing his game to North America, but should be make or break within a couple seasons. Has a chance to be a stable, cheap backup for several years but lacks talent to be an average starter.
