Observations:
September 2015 – When Dallas selected Brent Moran with their fourth round pick in 2014 it was all about one thing, potential. Playing the past three seasons with the OHL’s Niagara IceDogs, Moran hasn’t put up eye popping numbers you would hope to see, but keep in mind he has been playing for a largely rebuilding IceDogs squad. To date Moran has played 97 regular season games posting a record of 39 wins, 47 losses, three OT losses and two shootout losses with a 3.77 GAA and 0.888 SVP% with one shutout. His playoff numbers have been slightly better thanks in large part to a standout 2014 playoffs. In nine games he has three wins and five losses, a 3.27 GAA, 0.907 SVP% with one shutout. While those numbers might not scream NHL prospect, he has two things working for him that can’t be taught, six feet and four inches. He possess ideal size you want to see in a goaltender and has quick reflexes but overall his agility needs some work. He’s aggressive in coming out to the top of his crease to challenge shooters and his positioning to make an initial save has gotten much better over the past couple of seasons. He needs to improve his rebound control and when he drops down into the butterfly he can leave the top portion of the net exposed. His five hole coverage also needs some work. Moran is in a good situation in Dallas given their lack of prospect depth in the goaltending department. Resident prospect guru Brendan Ross believes he has as high an upside as any goalie taken in the 2014 draft. Brad Phillips
Fantasy Outlook: D+
Probably at least four years away from making any serious push for big league playing time but the potential and opportunity are there for him to seize

Moran makes a couple of unreal saves; one with the glove (at 2:25) and another using his whole body (at 3:35)
