Observations:

May 2016 – Alexandre Mallet spent half a season as a member of the Islanders’ organization. He played 40 games with the ECHL’s Stockton Thunder during the 2014-15 season, putting up nine goals and 22 points. At the end of that year, he signed with the Kalamazoo Wings, who are Tampa Bay’s ECHL affiliate. Mallet had a tryout with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL to start the 2015-16 season, but did not crack the squad. He had a good year for the K-Wings, registering 23 goals and 57 points. However, the fact that he cannot secure an AHL contract suggests that Mallet is not fantasy relevant. Brent Craswell

November 2014 – On November 25th, Vancouver Canucks traded Alexandre Mallet and a third round pick in 2016 to the New York Islanders for defenseman Andrey Pedan. Playing with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings, Mallet has recorded three goals and nine points in a dozen games. Brendan Ross

February 2014Unfortunately, Mallet has been relegated to a depth role this season with the Utica Comets. While he is still young enough to make a push for the NHL, it will likely only be in the bottom six. He has 4 points in 35 games this year, and only 13 PIM for those of you looking for a pugilist. The only bright spot, if you can call it that, is that he is only a minus-2. That is better than you might think, given how few goals for he has been involved in as well the minus-20 goal differential for the Comets as a whole. Austin Wallace

April 2013– The switch from the QMJHL to a higher level has been brutal for Mallet. In 2011-12 he posted 81 points (34-47-81) with 81 PIM in 68 games. This season, he has managed just 30 points (10-20-30) and 51 PIM in 62 games. Mallet is a player with heart and courage but unfortunately, those may be his best skills. He has seemed somewhat timid on the ice this season and plays a very reserved game. Since he is no longer eligible to light up defenses in the QMJHL, he needs to figure out how to play at the next level and that looks like a tall order for Mallet. Austin Wallace

Fantasy Outlook: D-

Aggressive, tough play with a good shot and accurate pass was the word on Mallet in the QMJHL. At this point, Alex Mallet doesn’t carry much fantasy hockey relevance.
