Observations:

March 2016 – Alexis Vanier has had a productive fourth and final season in Major Junior. The hulking defender has produced 25 points in 57 games spread between three teams in the QMJHL. At the time of his draft in 2014, the 6'5 215 lbs Vanier tantalized scouts with his potential offensive game. However, that aspect has never really taken off at the junior level, the reason for that may lie with his less-than-stellar skating ability and questionable hockey IQ. Both of which will be major hurdles to overcome as he attempts to earn himself an entry-level contract from the Sharks at the conclusion of this season. Cam Robinson

June 2014 – The San Jose Sharks selected defenseman Alexis Vanier 102nd overall at the 2014 NHL Draft. Brendan Ross

May 2014 – Unpolished as a skater, 6-foot-5 Drakker defenseman Alexis Vanier owns appealing size, a blistering point shot and intimidating physicality. Improving his skating is very important moving forward as it will shore up his game both offensively and defensively, helping him to skate with confidence to open areas and contain attackers more easily. He’s a project but Alexis Vanier should be a top 75 player at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Project defenseman with massive size and upside as a two-way physical blueliner.
