Observations:
January 2016- After earning a spot on the Rangers roster out of training camp, Lindberg has yet to look back. The 24-year-old Swede started his rookie campaign with three goals in his first four games, a pace no one expected him to keep up with. Although he may not be scoring at that nearly impossible rate, he has found stability in the Rangers lineup and manufactured solid numbers up to this point in the season. Few people imagined he would produce as much as he has in his rookie campaign; nonetheless he currently sits eighth on the team in scoring with 10 goals and seven assists. If Lindberg can continue to score at the pace he is now, a 40-point season could be in the conversation. It seems highly unlikely he reaches that number, and it will be difficult for him to eclipse the 30-point mark, but he has surprised some people thus far, so if he continues to receive top-3 line minutes, it could be attainable. October 2015 – Lindberg, the 23-year-old Swede who was traded to the Rangers back in the Spring of 2011, is off to a hot start after making the opening day roster. Picking up four goals in his first three games has him in the league lead while playing alongside Viktor Stalberg and JT Miller. He hasn't been collecting much powerplay time and his shooting percentage sits at a dazzling 50% so keep expectations in check because he will not maintain his current pace. Brendan Ross
July 2015 – Oscar Lindberg signed a two-year contract with the Rangers, which worth 650 thousand per year. He is a very good defensive forward, who also has some offensive upside. The Swede had a great year with the Wolfpack in the AHL. The 6-1, 195-pounder tallied 28 goals and 28 assists in 75 regular season games. He led the Hartford in game-winning goals and shots on goal. He was a clutch player during Hartford’s playoff run this spring and notched 16 points in 15 playoff games. Lindberg is the most NHL ready prospect in the Rangers system. Most likely will crack the cap trapped Rangers’ opening night lineup, and will play as a bottom 6 forward for them. Jozsef Kurtosi
March 2015 – In his second North American campaign, Lindberg was once again in the AHL playing with the Hartford Wolfpack. He is one of the top players this year for the Wolf Pack and displayed a solid two-way game. Lindberg is playing a more physical game than he did last year and he is shooting more often. In 62 games he is registered 19 goals, 21 assists and averaged three shots per game. In February, he had a brief call-up to Rangers, which lasted only one game. He can be a skilled checking line center in the NHL soon. Lindberg looks very good at both ends of the ice. He has a weak but smart shot, that finds ways thorough traffic well. He is a good passer and is a especially efficient in the faceoff dot. Defensively, he is strong and knows his positioning very well. Rangers will have to give him a chance at NHL level if they really want him re-sign in summer because there is a chance that he will head back to Sweden if he sees no NHL opportunity. If he chooses to stay, he can replace Dominic Moore in a year as the fourth line center.Jozsef Kurtosi
August 2014 – Lindberg had a very good first season in AHL last year. In the regular season he played 75 games, where he scored 18 goals and 44 points. The defensive minded center did not have a chance yet to play for the Rangers, but his AHL performance has given him a good shot for this year; he will compete in camp for the vacant third line center spot with JT Miller, the veteran Matt Lombardi and Chris Mueller. While he is not the favourite for the job, anything can happen before October. If the Rangers will send him down again, he will play heavy minutes in AHL, and will be one of the first injury call-ups. Jozsef Kurtosi
May 2013 – Lindberg was named SEL playoff MVP scoring 13 points in 13 games, including two overtime game winners. He also excelled on the penalty kill and was above 60% on faceoffs. The Rangers will look to use his services as early as next year. Brendan Collins
April 2013 – Oscar Lindberg is a hard-working centreman with excellent hockey-sense and work ethic. He has been touted as a defense-first forward who can play well in all zones of the ice and has displayed good on-ice awareness. He is already a pro-level skater, but must build up his upper-body strength to improve his physical game that he has not been afraid to play. He has above-average play-making ability, proven while playing in with Skelleftea in the Elitserien. He put up 17 goals and 25 assists in 55 games, and 16 points in 13 playoff games. After being signed in 2012, the Rangers will look to have him make the move to North America soon. Brendan Collins
Fantasy Outlook: B+
Lindberg is a good, defensively reliable centerman who has NHL upside. He plays with pace, limits mistakes and could find a role in a middle-six capacity.
