Observations:

October 2015 – Amid a deeper group of defenceman in Colorado than last season, Redmond failed to earn an NHL position and has been assigned to the AHL to start the season, unless he is claimed off waivers. He will likely be an early choice for a call-up, but it is very unlikely he gets the games or ice-time to build upon his weak fantasy value established last year.  Hayden Soboleski

July 2015 – Redmond finished his first full NHL season with 20 points (five goals, 15 assists), including six on the powerplay, in 59 games. His puck-moving ability has transferred well from the AHL to the NHL and his heavy slapshot was often put to use on the powerplay. Despite his offensive talent, Redmond is low on the Avalanche depth chart and sees limited ice time outside of powerplays. His contract will keep him available in the NHL throughout the season, and he will be a go-to player if injuries occur to more often used offensive defensemen in the lineup, but it is unlikely that he will receive the opportunity to be any more productive than he was in 2014-15.  Hayden Soboleski

May 2014 – Redmond signed a two-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche, with a deal averaging $750,000 per year. Important to note that this is a one-way deal, so he has a much better chance of cracking the lineup. On an Avs team with a weaker defensive core, he may finally be able to live up to his potential as his AHL numbers suggest. Kevin Won

April 2013 – He did a heck of a job this season in St. John’s playing a very responsible game and kept his name in the running for an eventual recall on a team that has a poor prospect pool on defense. In his recall to the Jets, Redmond was posting very respectable numbers in eight NHL games before an unfortunate incident in practice that left him deeply cut in his upper thigh. Redmond has recently returned to practice after a six week recovery. His return to the Jets may be short lived as he is likely returning to the IceCaps as the Jets are relatively healthy again on the blue line. His early success is worth noting and he has earned himself the right to be one of the primary recalls. Jason Banks

April 2012 – Redmond turned heads in the Jets training camp and was a late cut. In his first full season at the pro level with St. John’s he has acquitted himself well. In 70 games he has eight goals, 23 assists for 31 points, and plus-11. Redmond’s stock is rising fast on the virtue of his skating ability, size, reliability and hard accurate point shot. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: C-

A depth defenseman with the offensive skills to have fantasy value in deeper leagues, but the existing competition and emerging younger prospects will limit his opportunity
