Observations:
September 2015 – Horak is in the midst of his second campaign with Vityaz Podolsk of the KHL. Now wearing an 'A', he has one goal and three points in the first 11 games this season. Horak was second on the team in points last season with 31 in 53 games. Barring a remarkable year and a desire to come back to North America, Horak is a long shot to come back to fantasy relevance in the NHL. Tyler Thomson
June 2014 – Despite finishing third in scoring for the Oklahoma City Barons with 48 points in 53 games, Horak saw the writing on the wall. He knew that his odds of making the Oilers are slim for 2014-15. Though he should have probably given North American pro hockey another year and see how things shake out next summer, Horak decided to sign Vityaz Podolsk of the KHL. He's still only 23 so if he has a monster season over there he could come back. But don't bet on it. Dobber
November 2013 – Disappointed on not making the Calgary Flames, thanks to the quick emergence of Sean Monahan, Roman "Score-ak" has been anything but. Just two goals for Abbotsford 13 games in and the organization shipped him out to Edmonton in the Ladislav Smid deal. If Horak found the Flames a tough roster to crack, he hasn't seen anything yet. I'll be surprised if he can make his way onto Edmonton's roster as a regular. – Dobber
April 2013 – With the house cleaning in Calgary at the trade deadline, Horak became a large benefactor as he gets a secure roster spot the rest of the year. He should log solid minutes for the rest of the year as Calgary makes an assessment on what they need in the off season and with the upgrade in minutes, you should see modest production. Jason Banks
January 2013 – Horak failed in his bid to make the Flames due to the additions of Sven Baertschi and Roman Cervenka to the equation in Calgary. He must now wait for injuries to happen for him to see his next recall. Jason Banks
January 2013 – Horak’s offensive numbers have grown overall at the AHL level this season, but more should be expected from a player who was solid in 61 NHL games last season compiling 11 points. He does have 14 goals in 32 games (only 4 in his last 23 games) and is given development time in all game situations. Jason Banks
March 2012 – Horak is a native of the Czech Republic who played the last two seasons in the WHL for Chilliwack Bruins. He possesses a great offensive talent who takes advantage the open ice on the power-play and the penalty kill. He is a player with good puck skills who has been displaying his talents with Calgary for the majority of the season. Just seven games in the AHL, but he will need to develop greater strength and a more rounded defensive game if he hopes to stay in the NHL. – Russ Bitely
Fantasy Outlook: D+
Horak has offensive playmaking talent but is happy playing in Europe for the time being. Until there's interest in coming back to North America, he's not worth considering for any fantasy purposes at this time.
